If Tchikou is fully healthy and we get a good draw and a little luck... I think we can win a National Title. But my goal is just make it past the Sweet16.

I guess why not ask now, what are all of y’alls personal expectations for next year??
Finish top 3 in the conference and make it past the first weekend in the tournament again. I don't think it's fair to elevate expectations beyond that at this point. Gonna have to have a breakthrough program win, i.e. make the Final Four, before I begin thinking in terms of championships.
I'd also like to see them come out of the gate running instead of spending most of OOC play looking like a church league team.

y’alls personal expectations for next year??
- Have a successful non-conference season (9-3 or 10-2 or so with 2-3 legit solid wins and no WTF losses)
- Finish in the Top 4 of the SEC and get a SECT bye (12-6 type year)
- Get back to the 2nd weekend, preferably get past the S16

First 2022 NBA Draft I've seen - ESPN
13. JD Davison (Alabama) (San Antonio)
41. Jahvon Quinerly (Alabama) (Orlando)
58. Keon Ellis (Alabama) (Atlanta)

The clear-cut leaders and best guards on their respective teams, Nolan Hickman and J.D. Davison both made their case as being two of the best floor generals in the class and strong one-and-done candidates.
Davison was one of the revelations of the week. Few knew what to make of the internet sensation and highlight reel machine who played his basketball in the second lowest of the Alabama high school conferences, where his team finished 16-9 and lost in the playoff semifinals.
Davison quickly showed that he's much more than a YouTube sensation, proving to be one of the top all-around basketball players at the event. Featuring good size, a huge frame and an explosive first step, he was very difficult for opposing guards to contain when he went to the lane in transition or created out of isolation, finishing aggressively through contact.
Davison is also a willing passer who shows nice vision out of pick-and-rolls, being capable of rejecting screens powerfully and finding teammates on the move. Still, learning to value the ball and cut down on turnovers will also be a priority moving forward, as Davison did have some wild moments.
Where Davison impressed the most was on the defensive end, using his outstanding physical tools to get up on opposing guards, block shots on the perimeter and crash the glass. He plays with impressive toughness and intensity, looking more than happy to do the little things to help his team win games.
Davison's swing skill is his jump shot, once known as a significant weakness but clearly an area in which he's made strides. He struggled to make shots in games, at times passing up open looks, but has projectable mechanics and soft enough touch as a finisher to indicate there's plenty of room to grow long term. Davison looks like he'll be a great fit at Alabama, which sports one of the most wide open and efficient offenses in the country.

I could see JD and JQ rise 5-10 spots depending on how their seasons go, but I think they're sleeping on Ellis a bit. He's got all the tools the NBA is looking for in a guard/wing these days. He just doesn't have a lot of exposure. If he plays starters minutes and has a healthy, productive season I could see him being a top 40 pick.

I think Ellis is in that "we think he's gonna be higher but for now this is where we stash him" spot on these boards.
He's gonna be a guy that a bunch of NBA teams really, really like. Good athleticism, good length, solid mechanical shot, good finisher, great and versatile defender.

That's certainly possible. If Primo comes back we could have 4 players drafted next summer. That would have to be a program record since the draft was cut down to 2 rounds.

The excitement over the across the board talent level and depth of this roster is not overblown. It's a legit Top 10 roster with an even higher ceiling depending on growth of some young guys.

Two important details from that article:
quote:
Davison told the media Thursday night his goal is to play one year with the Crimson Tide and head to the NBA.
quote:
Davison’s trademark high hair was teased down Thursday night – he said he needed to be able to put is cap on for cap and gown pictures. He also said it would return when he got to Alabama.

My Updated Early Preseason Top 25 after Kentucky lands a point guard:
quote:
9. Alabama
Gone: SG *John Petty Jr. (Sr., 12.6 ppg), F *Herbert Jones (Sr., 11.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg), C *Jordan Bruner (Sr., 5.6 ppg), F Alex Reese (Sr., 5.4 ppg)
Testing Waters: G *Jaden Shackelford (Soph., 14.0 ppg), G *Josh Primo (Fr., 8.1 ppg)
Back: PG Jahvon Quinerly (Soph., 12.9 ppg), SG Keon Ellis (Jr., 5.5 ppg), F Juwan Gary (RS Fr., 3.8 ppg), PF James Rojas (Jr., 2.9 ppg), F Darius Miles (Fr., 2.2 ppg), F Keon Ambrose-Hylton (Fr., 1.1 ppg), PF Alex Tchikou (Fr.)
Add: PG JD Davison (No. 9), C Charles Bediako (No. 26), SF Jusaun Holt
Transfer Add: G Nimari Burnett (Texas Tech, Fr., 5.3 ppg), F Noah Gurley (Furman, Jr., 15.4 ppg)
Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide will definitely look different next year, but they still return a bunch of key pieces from a team that won the SEC regular-season title and tournament. Shackelford could turn into a star, and Oats will likely have plenty of guards who can make plays in the trio of Quinerly, Primo and Davison. He has also added a couple of transfers in Burnett and Gurley who will help.

I bet if you held a gun to that one dipshit's head and told him to say something good about Alabama, you'd either be forced to kill him when he refused or he'd have a stroke and die when he tried.

I thought it was a shtick but I think he’s genuinely Alabama delusional. I mean I hate Auburn, but I have no problem freely admitting Bruce is a really good coach and has built Auburn into a solid program who should definitely be 7 seed or better next season. It’s not that hard to hate a program and still be honest

The guy has quite literally never complimented an Alabama coach, player or team in the moment. Sometimes he compliments players or teams from the past, but only so that he can use it to show why the current Alabama team or program isn't as good or is bad.
It's almost impressive, honestly.

Yeah if it's a shtick his dedication and consistency are pretty amazing. I don't think it's a shtick though. I think it's just a little redneck living in some small town in South Alabama who has wrapped all of his own personal self worth up in the athletics program of a college he didn't go to that plays second fiddle to its in state rival in all ways. Which is honestly pretty fricking sad.

Which is the best part, because his whole other schtick is that he "only talks about Alabama to drown out the Alabama people who have their entire personal self worth tied up in the athletics program".
It's wild shite man.
