4-star PG Travis Perry down to 5 schools, sets commitment date

Travis Perry, a four-star point guard in the 2024 class, has narrowed his list of schools down to five. Moving forward, the 6-foot-2, 170-pound senior out of Eddyville (Ky.) Lyon County will consider Alabama, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Western Kentucky. He has visited each of his finalists and will announce his college decision on Sunday, November 12th at 2:00 PM CT.

In addition to his finalists, Perry also received offers from Missouri, Michigan, Indiana, Purdue, LSU, and others.

According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Perry is the No. 88 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle. He’s also the No. 11 point guard prospect and the No. 1 player in Kentucky. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Perry is the state of Kentucky’s all-time leading scorer in high school basketball.

What Perry is looking for in a school

In a previous interview with On3, Travis Perry shared what he’s wanting in a future college.

“The big thing for me will be the relationship I have with the coaching staff. It is one thing to go down to a school and have a great visit, but you have to go somewhere you are comfortable. These people are going to be like your second family for a couple of years. Also, I’ll look closely at how I fit on the basketball side. I’ve learned going to these camps all over that system is really big for a player like myself. Going into a system that plays the game the right way is big for me.

“I want to play for a coach who wants to compete and win. I know everyone wants to win, but some guys just really, really have to win. That is big for me also.”

Scouting Report

“Travis Perry is a heady lead guard who plays at a fast pace. He makes quick, decisive decisions on the ball. Perry has deep range on his jumper and he is able to find his balance and square his shoulders off the catch or off the bounce. He relies more on pace than he does quickness, he has average pop. Perry sees the floor well. There will be questions about his on ball defense, but he gives good effort on that end. A prolific scorer.” – On3’s Jamie Shaw

What if Naas and Perry both committed on their visit?

Someone on the community page mentioned that there were 2 elephants in Murphy’s tweet. I went and checked on his tweet for Sherrell and there was indeed just one such emoji…

Four-star wing Naas Cunningham is ready to make his college decision

Naas Cunningham, the No. 53 overall recruit in the 2024 class, will make his college decision tomorrow at 2:30 PM PT/5:30 PM ET live on 247Sports.

Naas Cunningham, the No. 53 overall recruit in the 2024 class, is ready to make his college decision tonight and will make his announcement tomorrow at 2:30 PM PT/5:30 PM ET live on 247Sports.

The four-star recruit out of Castaic (Calif.) Southern California Academy has taken two official visits to Alabama and West Virginia while having received offers from schools including Arkansas, Duke, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland and many others throughout his high school career.

Cunningham is a 6-foot-7 small forward that has been regarded as one of the best prospects since the debut of the 2024 rankings two years ago.

Since his move to Southern California Academy, Cunningham has shown a big jump in his development that he was able to showcase while at the Border League in Las Vegas last month.

In his viewings in front of 247Sports, Cunningham had very evidently added on to his frame and has clearly been putting the time in during his off hours to develop his half-court skillset.

Aside from his added weight and strength, Cunningham showed a much improved long-range jumper and drilled several threes in the highly competitive tournament and with continued performances like that, he will certainly rise back up in the rankings.

With that jump in his development, Cunningham has been seen a rise back up in his recruitment with schools ramping up their interest and Alabama quickly getting him on for an official visit.

There are several prospects gearing up for college decisions over the next ten days and Cunningham is ready to be one of them.

Where will he go?

Tune in to 247Sports on Tuesday, November 7th at 2:30 PM PT to find out.

If Naas commits we will jump to the #2 class in the SEC and #21 overall.

We would have the highest average rating in the SEC and 5th best overall behind only Duke, Kansas, UNC and Baylor.

10 of the 'Best Fits' in high school basketball heading into the Early Signing Period

Highlighting ten prospects who made great decisions when choosing a college.

The Early Signing Period for high school basketball prospects is set to begin on Wednesday. With this will come a lot of senior prospects who will be confirming their verbal commitments by putting the pen to the paper.

As a result, 247Sports is highlighting some of the players we feel made the best decisions when it came to picking a program:

quote:

AIDEN SHERRELL - ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

Ranking: No. 32 overall

Why he fits: Nate Oats' system and the general style of play in the NBA have vast similarities. With Aiden Sherrell locked in, the Crimson Tide have a talented five-man with a high ceiling whose game is made for the highest level of the sport. In a class filled with skilled and talented bigs, we could see Sherrell having the best career out of the bunch. Oats' analytical approach to the game should do wonders for Sherrell's development as he is bound to continue turning his potential into consistent production in Tuscaloosa.

I dont think he has a committable offer from us from what I heard. I think we would be able to get a much better pg in the portal, he is a great scorer in HS but plays against terrible competition. He is gonna be a project in college Most likely.

He's from far Western Kentucky. So I'm not surprised he's playing weak competition. I'm cool with a project that knows they're a project, and aren't expecting much playing time for the first couple years. But that's pretty much a unicorn nowadays. They've really gotta love the place they're going to sit for w couple years, be a lesser team they can get early PT.

I've said it before, I'm impressed I'm seeing how everything shakes out with so many 2nd transfers being denied lately. Are #150ish guys gonna start low to mid and work their way to high major, or are they gonna start high and end up transferring down (because lack of patience). It's uncharted territory still, but at least they're finally setting up some rules. Just glad we didn't get screwed (though i think Estrada was a grad transfer).

That video said he scored 45 points playing against Reed Sheppard. Sheppard was a 4* in the 23 class. A 6'3" guard that was the #42 overall player and signed with Kentucky. Looks like he played 21 minutes for them last night and scored 12 points on 4/6 (1/2) shooting with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Not a bad debut at all.
