Here's a scouting report from on3 on him from 4/7/22, back when he was the #1 composite recruit on 247
Sounds like he'll need some development. But definitely a great pickup.
Honestly, with the way he's fallen, if Oats turns him into a first round guy, then recruits are gonna be really knocking on our door. Last season and draft impressed the hell out of people. He's the kinda guy that can cement it.
I'm also interested to see how all of the second transfer denials affect recruiting. I'm sure the goal is to try to get players to make less impulsive decisions, rather then bounce at the first adversity they encounter.

Naas Cunningham is a long, rangy, and athletic wing prospect. You first notice the frame; he looks like a basketball player. Offensively, Cunningham is adept at shot-making, extending out to three, off the catch. He will need to continue putting on weight and getting stronger. He is an explosive athlete, which he shows in transition. His length, positional size, and quick-twitch athleticism give the belief he can become a good team defender in time. Would like to see him attack the basket more, his tendency to settle for jump shots render him inefficient and ineffective at times, but he does have the ability to create space and knock down shots. While the tools are obvious, he disappears for long stretches, often. His flashes will need to start turning into consistency and production, but his flashes can be impressive, and his upside is high.
Sounds like he'll need some development. But definitely a great pickup.

I love how quick Oats pivoted when Reid became up in the air. He didn’t mess around and immediately went and got a top 50 guy at the same position just in case.

I wonder if this was an either/or with Reid and Cunningham or if we can land both.

It isn't speculation. It's what Bama's staff is hearing from their side.

I doubt it is either/or, I think we'd be ecstatic to have both.

Yeah, the way we play having multiple highly skilled wings is the last thing Oats would balk at. The recruits may see it differently though. You never know about that. We have a good reputation for spreading touches around though.

Yeah, I meant either/or from the our perspective. I think the staff would gladly take both in a heartbeat. The players may not have the same vision though if they aren't keeping an eye on the bigger picture. Plenty of touches to go around for both of them in this offense.
Has anyone heard anything from Travis Perry after the visit?

I think I was looking at it more from the player perspective. As a fan, give me all the 6’7 guys we can find who can shoot

Wednesday November 8th begins the college basketball early signing period and ends on November 15th.
Could see a lot of movement in recruiting this week.

I hate when a coach posts emojis or whatever signaling a big recruiting win and then whoever the recruit is doesn't announce anything. If the recruit isn't about to announce his commitment then don't post anything.

A five-star swingman at Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep, Derrion Reid was supposed to have made up his mind between Alabama, Florida State and Georgia a few weeks ago. However, family circumstances got in the way and Reid ultimately postponed his recruitment.
Last week, sources close to Reid indicated to 247Sports that Reid would likely pass on the early signing period and that he would watch his finalists play for a bit before making his final decision.
Over the weekend, he was in action with his Prolific Prep teammates and indicated to Chris Stonebraker of 247Sports partner Max Preps that he’s hoping to have a decision soon, but did not elaborate on when exactly soon is and it is starting to look more and more like he won’t be signing early.
“I’ll probably try to go back home again for my commitment but right now it’s undecided. I’m still talking to my mom and family and stuff like that. I’m trying to get it soon. The top three are still the same, Florida State, Alabama and Georgia.”

Best case scenario for us.

That would be worst case scenario.
I don't think Georgia has anyone good this year. They were picked 12th in the SEC So I'm sure he'll closely be comparing our styles, to see where he'll fit best. Considering Georgia didn't lock him up while Mama is on their side, makes me smile a little.
It also gives him time to play with Sherrell. He may think he would need a good fit with Newell. But he'll actually know if him and Sherrell are a good fit after a season together.

Nothing against you but if Reids mom didnt like Oats how would the bama poster on Bamaonline with 40 posts who started that rumor know? He also asked mac if it was true when he posted it like he didnt know for sure it was true.

Cant believe Sherrell is ranked in the top 15, I was told we couldn't afford anyone in the top 70.

So recruits who don't sign November 8-15 have to wait until when to sign?

What are you hearing on Travis Perry? We are possibly losing a ton of guards next season.
