A couple of write ups from SI:

Alabama Basketball Practice Report: October 19, 2021

The basketball team scrimmaged during a brief media viewing period on Tuesday and showed off some of the speed on this year's team.

Returns of Jaden Shackelford, Jahvon Quinerly Put Alabama's Backcourt in Safe Hands

Both players had the opportunity to explore other options in the offseason, but ultimately Shackelford and Quinery returned to Tuscaloosa and will lead one of the best backcourts in the country.

JQ handles and layup package are impressive. I also think Gurley will play the Reese role well.

For the White team it was Jahvon Quinerly running the point, JD Davison and Jusaun Holt as guards and Juwan Gary and Keon Ambrose-Hylton at forward.

For the Crimson team it was Jaden Shackelford running the point, with Keon Ellis and Darius Miles as the guards, and Noah Gurley and Charles Bediako at forward.

According to the in-gym scoreboard, the White team beat Crimson 88-78. After the scrimmage, the losing team had to run to end out the practice.

I’m glad Ambrose is back practicing since who knows if Tchikou will be able to get healthy enough to contribute at all.

Did Tchikou have another setback?

Pretty bad sign when he didn't get a single mention during the whole press conference.

Not to my knowledge, Tchikou hasn't been cleared by the team doctor yet from the Achilles injury, but he feels like he is good to go...that's why he played this off-season and if I must say...He looked pretty good as well just lack experience! He started playing ball at the age of 15!

Reading into it to much. I think he might have to sit a few games.

Yep. I take it as a really bad sign.

If things don't go well this season with him, I fear he could end up being a portal candidate.

Well, he's a baller. So if there is a way for him to get on the court, im sure Oats will have him out there. None of this shite like in football where the young guys have to learn how to do everything right. He has the talent to play so if he's not in the lineup he's either hurt or a total frick up. My guess is that he will be in the lineup and he will be making highlight plays.

Miles also played in the exhibition and the scrimmage and has never been in the doghouse either. Obviously we don't really know anything definitively at this point, but things haven't been positive around Tchikou for a while now. Really hope that changes though, because I still think he can be a tremendous player for us.

Miles also participated in the scrimmage and didn’t blow out his Achilles last year so

It was rumored that Tchikou was selfish and the coaches were upset with him because of what he did. He feels like he is ready but they won't clear him shoot he felt like he's been ready since the latter part of the summer so just imagine how he feels. I don't think he is actually able to play anyway right now because of (Summer Tourney) but hopefully soon they will clear him on both fronts (injury & NCAA).

I don't think Tchikou can participate just yet.

Every player (especially an 18/19 year old kid) will always feel like they are ready though. The staff isn't going to intentionally hold him back out of spite or anything like that to where it's detrimental to the team. Achilles are really tough injuries to come back from. When he's healthy enough to be cleared, he will get his opportunity and we just have to hope that he can put it together enough this year to be able to contribute in a meaningful way.
