Park by Papa Johns across the railroad tracks near the track facility. Always parking available and very easy in and out.

Do you guys think Tchikou gets a lot of minutes? I feel like he is one of the most skilled on the team but doesn’t seem like he does the intangible stuff Oats likes.

That might be tricky. He is the most traditional replacement for Bediako in case of fouls or an injury. But Oats doesn’t really subscribe to that. He just as soon puts Gurley/Gary/KAH at 5 and has Ellis at 4 and it works just fine

We tried out a lot of guys last night before we pulled away. I counted 9 in the first half. Tchikou will get his chance

When we got there, the guard was just waving everybody in, no pass checking

The worst of the gridlock seemed to be between Lots A and B, which is also right where the new bridge comes in (and the other side of 2nd). A buddy who got to the game late said it was backed up from there all the way to DCH.

We had a parking pass with a QR code on the phone to those lots, and about five people asked us to show it to them out the window, but nobody scanned it.

And you’re right, I never even saw anyone working outside that deck when we went by.

Even with a pass, I’m seriously considering parking somewhere else, just for convenience.

How so? I haven’t tried it in a while.

The area by the former dentist office (near Jack’s) and/or the track facility was always our go-to, but they’ve changed a bunch of that ingress/egress after they added the pay lots and built the condos.

I don’t know if they still do, but coming in that way they used to let you in that back door of Coleman by the loading dock.

S. Dakota St beat Bradley last night, 81-65. The Jackrabbits had five in double figures. They were up 21 at the half. They have no players over 6'8. Their lone senior, Douglass Wilson, was the high scorer with 20. Looks like they play 7 players. Scheiereman and Wilson had double-doubles. They went 28-29 from the line.

The parking set up is interesting - traffic flow is set up to cross the bridge (not to park in A or B, which are roped off and have barricades). The officer waved me through to go over the bridge - when I slowed down and showed the pass, he asked A or B - when I said A, he told them to move the barricade and I went in. But then A was roped off all the way to the 2nd row closest to the coliseum. There the guy scanned me in. Seems much more complicated than a hang tag that denotes parking and can be checked before entering into the lot.

Was also surprised that they let the traffic light handle the exit from A & B lots after the game.

Having said that, my first experience with parking in this new system was smooth entering and exiting, but that was not what folks I spoke with inside the coliseum indicated (especially the ones use to handicap parking nearby).

On a somewhat related note, I’m liking the new ‘ preliminary screening’ metal detectors (the ones that have the two poles you walk between). For the last two football games and the first basketball game, I haven’t had to empty my pockets nor have my bag checked, They still have a few of the regular metal detectors to go through if these new ones alarm.

Good point about the traffic lights. We got out relatively easily, but coming in they were an issue, because not enough cars could clear the intersection.

I liked those metal detectors too—pretty cool, and I didn't see anyone that actually had to stop for a follow-up scan.

No one is gonna enforce masks on the shuttle lol and I’m glad they don’t. There’s one person on the bus that could even see if you have one on and it’s the driver who is 100% focused on the road

Oh.

All of my secret spots (basketball and football) are slowly going away with the construction and changes on campus.

I bought a $60 parking pass for which I hoped would be for the B Lot, where I have parked in recent years, but it was for the "Capstone Deck" across 10th/ BB Drive from the baseball field.

@AbSnopes - double check your pass. If Tide Pride parking, it should be the Capstone Surface Lot on the University Blvd side of the parking deck. The parking deck is open to the general public.

I will say the last time I parked in the shopping center where Papa John's is for a basketball game, it was slam full when I was leaving Druid City Brewing to walk to the game. This was a game just before Covid hit in early February 2020. I'd be pretty surprised if the stores there don't start policing it somehow, or having the Boy Scouts parking people like they do for football games. Particularly on Saturday afternoon games.

My family has been parking there for I’d imagine at least 20 years and it’s been the same year after year with no one policing it. It does normally fill up on Saturday SEC games when we are good, but there’s rarely any competition for a spot for midweek games.
