This team needs to accept that most teams will be looking at us as a big game. We need to up the energy a bit.
That being said, we also just shot fricking abysmally - I don’t expect that to continue the whole game. And we’re still up 3.

This. When you don’t have a post game, you have to make open shots from the perimeter to keep the other team from just packing it in the lane. When the lane collapses, blocks and deflections rise leading to turnovers.

Also these technicals are not getting ridiculous, they are well past that. It’s just hurting the team.

Offense looks different from last year. Not taking or making enough 3- point shots. Maybe we are being defended differently but Miami is giving up 3point shots at a 51% clip. We seem to have slowed down the offense too. Interior defense is not very good so far. Maybe we are trying different things to find our identity, as we should.

Quinerly and Shack with 5 points combined on 2-11 shooting. Wasn’t like Keon was much better, and it seemed like Gurley barely played.
Kind of a wonder that we’re ahead, although it was clearly JD’s best offensive half outside of a few quick turnovers.

We are missing that physical to the basket guy like we had with Herb. We thought Ellis would take over that role. Maybe JD will, but he’s a little turnover prone when he does that.

You guys also have to keep in mind that we’re integrating a non shooting big into our offense for the first time since Donta Hall. Our halfcourt sets are gonna look a little rusty early on cause we can’t run a 5 out like last year. Our lanes our more clogged, it’s harder to penetrate and draw in defenders from the wing when you have a big body that can’t step out to the perimeter to draw his man. That’s why Tchikou’s development is so vital. It’s also very early in the season, and when it’s tournament time we’ll have a battle tested team that’s no longer one dimensional like teams of the past. When we get this thing going we’re gonna be tough to beat. Just my2bits
