I didn't think Purdue was Top 10 good.
They were ranked #1 a good portion of last season and returned 11 out of 13 players. Returned all their best players.

They won 29 games last year but unfortunately everybody remembers the one game they lost.
Its absolutely crazy that Purdue has a 7'5 guy and a 7'2 guy.
Interested to see how yall look tomorrow.

I just think Repeating is extremely hard. I fully expect us to be good tho. 22-9 or 23-8 and a 3 or 4 seed in the NCAAt

Ordinarily you worry about things like complacency and guys losing focus.
But this is a whole new roster, basically. These guys all have something to prove. Sears is the only returning starter and he has as much to prove as any of them.

We're gonna be without possibly 4 guys tomorrow who will be in the regular rotation once they're healthy. Sears will be out, hopefully, he will be back by the first real game.
None of the 4 have a serious injury and should all be back pretty soon.

Sears, Cosby, Wague, and Dioubate were all out when we played TCU. Hopefully some of them can play tomorrow.

Wrightsell has been banged up too, they played him vs TCU but it was clear he wasn’t 100%. I wouldn't mind if they sat him tomorrow to make sure he is healthier for the first real game.

Well if Wrightsell doesnt play, that leaves Estrada and who else to handle the ball?
Posted on 10/28/23 at 11:07 pm to SECSolomonGrundy
I think Wrightsell will play fwiw. Sears and Wague are for sure out, Cosby and Dioubate are questionable but should be available for our first game.

Rylan Griffen might be forced into bringing the ball up.
But we saw Miller bring it up some last year. Nelson is capable of doing that too.
This team has incredible size but i hope they dont get run off the court by smaller teams without Sears and Wrightsell. I can see Oats going with Estrada, Wrightsell, and Sears all on the court together. But right now we are looking at the possibility of playing minutes with none of them on the floor. It will be interesting to see.

In 24 NCAA Tournament appearances, the deepest run by @AlabamaMBB belongs to the resilient 2004 team that finished the regular season with a 16-11 record, but turned a No. 8 seed into a historic Elite Eight journey. Alabama started its March Madness in Seattle with a narrow 65-64 victory over Southern Illinois, before the overlooked and underdog Crimson Tide stunned the basketball world by upsetting No. 1-seeded Stanford 70-67. After falling short in the Sweet Sixteen seven previous times, Alabama finally broke through to the Elite Eight by eliminating defending national champion Syracuse 80-71. The magic faded in the region final when eventual champion Connecticut won 87-71, but the 2004 Crimson Tide coached by Mark Gottfried still stands as the most accomplished team in the NCAA Tournament. Anchored by Kennedy Winston, the remaining starting five included Chuck Davis, Jermareo Davidson, Earnest Shelton and Antoine Pettway. So the 2004 Elite Eight team is here to remind you the 2023-24 basketball season tips off in eight days.

No. 2 Southeastern Conference
Do you enjoy the ups and downs of conference play? Well, then pay attention to the SEC this year. The Tennessee Volunteers are one of the oldest teams in the country and are listed as the odds-on favorite. But four other teams - Alabama Crimson Tide, Arkansas Razorbacks, Kentucky Wildcats, and Texas A&M Aggies - are poised to make a run at the top spot.
quote:
In contrast, John Calipari's Kentucky squad is one of the youngest and most talented in Division I. But it's veterans Antonio Reeves and Tre Mitchell that must guide these Diaper Dandies through the gauntlet.
There was no deeper league in the country last year as the SEC sent 10 of its 14 teams to the postseason, including a record-tying eight to the Big Dance of which three advanced to the Sweet 16 (Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama). There's no reason it shouldn't get 7-8 teams in again.
If you're looking for an inspirational story of hard work to reach the top, look no further than Aggies' Wade Taylor IV who has steadily progressed into one of the sport's best guards. Not listed on anyone's top 100 in the class of 2021, his development has been fun to follow.
As far as newcomers to watch, take your pick from Kentucky's crop of Diaper Dandies in Justin Edwards, a strong contender to be the No. 1 pick of the 2024 NBA Draft, as well as DJ Wagner, Aaron Bradshaw, Reed Sheppard, and Robert Dillingham. Don't discount Auburn's Aden Hollway. He's an elite shooter as an undersized point guard.
More underrated players to keep an eye on include Tennessee's Tobe Awaka, who excelled for Team USA this summer, Alabama's Rylan Griffen, and Florida Gators' Riley Kugel, who's primed to be one of the league's top scorers.
The only new coach in the conference is former Texas Longhorns coach Chris Beard who is taking over the Ole Miss Rebels.
