McMillan Shines Again in Baseball’s 9-3 Win over Binghamton
The junior struck out a career-high and team-high tying seven across his 7.0 innings of work
Alabama baseball paired another dominant pitching performance with steady offense to cruise to a 9-3 win over Binghamton on Friday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The series-opening win moved the Crimson Tide to 10-5 on the season.
Garrett McMillan (2-0) provided the Tide with another impressive start for his second win of the season. The junior tossed a career-high 7.0 innings of one-run baseball, allowing just two hits and striking out seven in the process. McMillan did not issue a walk on the day and retired the final 11 batters he faced before handing it over to his bullpen.
Alabama's offense was equally impressive on Friday, scoring in five of the eight innings including the final four to secure the win. The Tide bats collected 13 hits with seven of the nine Alabama starters recording at least one hit in the game. Tommy Seild led the offensive charge with a 3-for-4 showing that included a double, two runs and a team-high four RBI. Also contributing multi-hit efforts were Zane Denton, Eric Foggo and Andrew Pinckney, with the threesome each posting two-hit days. Denton highlighted the group with a double and a home run to go with three RBI, one run and a walk.
From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"I'm really pleased with the game today. Garrett (McMillan) got us off to an awesome start, gave us seven great innings, and just kept pounding the strike zone with awesome tempo and presence. He was getting ahead in the count, and he was outstanding. We also made some strides offensively today – seven of the nine starters got a hit; we scored in five of the eight innings; we got some extra-base hits; and we stole a couple of bases."

Just a couple of quick notes: Caden Rose played 2nd base yesterday and did not appear to be impacted by the pitch to the ankle from the UNA game that sent him to the ground twice. Bryce Eblin also pinch hit in the 8th inning for Rose yesterday and got a single. He was immediately replaced at first base by Will Portera who played second base in the 9th. I had heard Eblin was dealing with a shoulder injury but he was wearing a rather large guard on his foot & shin during his at bat which would seem to point to a lower extremity injury.
Certainly seems promising for Rose and Eblin. Now if baby Yoda could swing by and lay his tiny healing hands on Hamiter’s broken foot…

Caden Rose pulled with a ‘hammy’ issue. Not sure the severity of it yet. Eblin batted in the 8th and played the last inning at 2nd base after Portera (who initially replaced Rose) moved from 2nd base to catcher. Beautiful but chilly day at the Joe. One more against Binghamton tomorrow then a midweek at Southern Miss.

Eight-Run Fourth Highlights Baseball’s 14-2 Win over Binghamton on Saturday
Alabama's offense erupted for a season-high 14 runs in baseball's 14-2 win over Binghamton on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson Tide clinched the series with the victory and is now 11-5 on the season.
The Tide posted 14 runs on 14 hits to go with five walks and five hit-by-pitch as all nine starters reached base safely on Saturday. Eight of the nine starters contributed at least one hit while seven of the nine starters recorded an RBI and seven starters also added at least one run scored. The offense was led by the Tide's 3-4-5 hitters in Tommy Seidl, Zane Denton and Drew Williamson. The trio contributed seven hits, including a double and one home run, to go with eight RBI and seven runs scored.
Antoine Jean (1-1) picked up the win with a career-high tying 6.0 innings. Jean allowed one run on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts in his final start before Southeastern Conference play begins.
From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"I'm really pleased with the effort today; it was really complete game for us. Antoine (Jean) gave us great start, was sharp out of the gate, and I really liked the way we came out. We were a little off schedule – we hit inside today and obviously the conditions weren't great. We've had a little more practice with that this year – more than we would like in our sport – but we came out hot. We scored five in the first, and sometimes when you get out front early, typically you can give some at-bats away in the middle of the game. But, in the fourth inning, we really busted it open, and I was proud of our guys. We had a lot of production up and down the lineup. Eight of the nine starters had at least one hit, we got some extra-base hits and played clean defense. It was just really a complete effort today, and I'm really, really pleased."
