This might be a stupid question, but I'm still drunk from Saturday night

Say we land Jahmyr Gibbs, the RB transfer from Georgia Tech.

Would he be eligible to play in the playoffs if he enrolls this month?

Seems like the answer would obviously be no, but if I remember correctly there have been instances of early high school graduates participating in bowl practices and being on the sidelines during the games.

Jalen was one of those but as I understand it they can practice but not play in the games. I don't recall reading where any of those early enrollment players played in the bowl games.

Slade got there early and at the time he could practice on campus, but wasn’t allowed to travel with the team at all/practice/play/be on the sideline away from campus. I don’t know if the rule has changed or not.

Honestly, I really hope not.

That would make the transfer rules and portals even more absurd if kids could come in just for postseason essentially.

Someone asked that on the other board and it seem like its doable.. but i dont' think he'll play but he will provide extra help preparing in bowl practice.

I vaguely remember a player becoming eligible to play in a bowl game after transferring. But I think he had sat all regular season with his new team

I wouldn't think he would be ready. ie, pass protection is such a big deal with the offense and Saban won't cut you loose to run unless you can pass protect too.

We all remember Derrick Henry's coming out party against OU in the Sugar Bowl. The light went off for him during the break leading up to the bowl game and he showed what he could do, once CNS could trust him with protecting the QB.

Don't know if he could play, but would be get a ring for being on the National Championship team?
