TENNESSEE VS ALABAMA SERIES
2006 : Alabama 43-38-7 (+5 Bama) (lost 10 of 12)
2023 : Alabama 59-39-7 (+20 Bama) (won 16 of 17)

AUBURN VS ALABAMA SERIES
2006 : Alabama 38-32-1 (+6 Bama) (lost 5 straight, 6 of 7)
2023 : Alabama 50-37-1 (+13 Bama) (won 4 in a row, 8 of 10, 12 of 17)

The man re-established our dominance in the 2 games that matter, and he did it almost immediately. Auburn took a little longer to totally take control of, but after 4 in a row and 8 of 10, I think that's been done.

Probation caused many of those losses.

We had several walk-on's and a transfer from the Citadel that were starting.

On top of the probation many of our best players were injured:

B. Croyle - blew his knee out

T. Castille - blew his knee out

W. Britt - broke his leg

E. Mathis - played with a stress fracture or some type of leg injury for many games.

Probably forgetting some more.

That 04 team was really good before everyone got hurt. I think we would have won 9 or 10 games that year. Maybe more

I think they might have gotten 1-2 more wins, but they weren't gonna win in Baton Rouge and probably at best split UT/Arkansas. Definitely could see beating Carolina. Would have had a better shot against Auburn.

I'd guess 7-4, which would have been a pretty successful season coming off of 4-9.

Arkansas, South Carolina, and Tennessee were all winnable with at least Brodie back.

We actually had the Lead in Baton Rouge and were about to score to go up double digits before the most blatant DPI occurred in the endzone with no flag. I think 8-3 and a bowl win for 9-3 was definitely doable. That defense was stout. I think we were the #1 pass defense in America.

Yep I forget who the safety was. I think it was Laron Landry. Anyway it was a terrible non call. He literally pushed him down from the back.

Shula was beside himself and screaming on the sideline. By the time he had calmed down LSU was past mid field and wound up scoring and that was that.

I do not miss Mike Shula.

Excellent. I’d love to see your computer model prediction for SECCG, SoG.

2004 had a very talented group of 1s. However, there was absolutely no depth behind them thanks to probation. When players started dropping like flies that season, there was no one good enough to replace them.
