Jalen Hurts jokes aside. Who starts/gets the most playing time against USC at this point and how much can things still shake up after today?

Well I'd say Bateman and hurts play against USC. Hurts has a stronger arm and is faster than Bateman. If he breaks one against USC the team will get behind him. I noticed yesterday there were much more plays called for hurts. Hurts is the only qb to score yesterday as well. So back to square one its Bateman and hurts and see what happens.

If Hurts has looked better this camp and is obviously our best quarterback then why will Bateman still earn the start? Did Cooper win the team during 7 on 7 or something? Will coach start the lesser quarterback on purpose?

It's just a hunch anyone with two eyes knows hurts is better. No Bateman has not won the team. I saw more hype when hurts was in. Barnett probably knocked himself right out of this thing he was awful.

I would say, just guessing here, that Bateman takes the first series. But be pretty conservative. By the 3rd series, Hurts will be in, especially if we've had 2 3 and outs.
I just don't see Saban letting Hurts get the start in the big time, since he hasn't 100% made himself better than the others.
From what we've heard, he has made himself the best QB, but Saban knows that in the game is much different than the practice, so he will go with who has at least been there.

If Hurts starts then I am afraid Tua will go elsewhere.

I don't care where he goes, if he doesn't want to compete I don't want him.

I dont see a QB recruit decommitting because of who the starter is. Most incoming kids at the QB position know there is a high likelihood of them RS their first year. So if Hurts starts this year they will have one year to overlap assuming Hurts goes pro after his Jr. year

I hope you are right. Of course Bateman will probably win the job anyway.

You don't even know how good he will be. Blake Barnett should be a huge lesson for a lot of you.

I still think Bateman gets the start vs USC. If Jalen Hurts trots out there with the offense on the first drive, that would truly surprise me.

So we're writing off a redshirt freshman already, based on message board reports of a couple of practice scrimmages?

If Hurts starts, we have a QB for 2016, 2017, 2018 and possibly 2019 if he doesn't end up going pro early. By that time I doubt we even remember who Tua is lol. Plus with Saban signing 4/5* QB every sinlge recruiting cycle, I think we will have someone ready to take over for Hurts.

If Hurts gets the start, what happens to the old saying "the backup Qb is always the fan favorite"?

I'm not writing off anyone. Just saying don't have high expectations and pipe dreams of a guy who isn't even on campus yet.

We name Barnett's fiance the backup.
