Yep - even with waves of talent all of us realize real quick how hard it is to rely on freshmen and backup sophomores in the Front 7 in this conference.

The problem I've always seen with Mullen in big games is he always comes out slinging the ball early and NEVER tries to establish the running game first or even gives it equal balance. He throws, throws, throws until late in the first half when he has often already fallen behind and is chasing the opponent. Then he decides to mix in the run more liberally but it's really too late. His big game offense is imbalanced in favor of the passing game and it usually gets him in trouble.

Florida is also going to need to bring that newfound defense Saturday. They started slowly against Mizzou which was different than their normal M.O. but had over 150 yards rushing, so they can be balanced if they choose to. But Mullen is going to Mullen. He needs this game in the worst way for his recruiting and sense of well-being in the program. I already know Kirby's gameplan, play conservatively, and wait for Dan to make his mistakes. It's the same one he has for all his big games and not so big games.

Yep. He wants to get out to a fast start to put pressure on the other team's offense but inevitably shoots himself in the foot. Didn't we sack Dak like 8 or 9 times when they came into BDS ranked #1 and thought they were going to beat our arse?

Agree - Mullen has to get this one. With the UGA defensive injuries, their precarious offensive situation, Florida's experience on offense, etc......this one he has to win to move the meter a bit back towards Florida in that rivalry and the division.

Yep - they kept running slow developing play action stuff. Then in the 4th he visibly decided to try and score at the end and lose by single digits instead of trying to score quick and maybe win if they got the ball back.

He's a very, very good program builder and coach, but in 10+ years of coaching he hasn't given one single reason to trust him in a game like this. Not one.

Oh yeah, Florida desperately needs to win this one. No one else in the East is anywhere close to challenging UGA and as long as Kirby keeps winning the division instead of pissing it away in the regular season he will stave off the Richt comparisons. If "Richt 2.0" becomes a successful recruiting pitch and they fall off a bit there they're in trouble.

If they go 8-2 and Florida wins the East this year (and beats them), I think that things are going to get testy (right or wrong).

They'll have some real pressure in 2021, and that means real pressure on either JT Daniels or a true freshman coming straight from tiny private school ball.

8-2 and missing the SECCG would represent a continued slide that will absolutely be used against them in recruiting. Kirby won't be on the hot seat, but they'll need to show major improvement on offense next year and win some hardware to keep him off of it heading into 2022.

The beatdown Dak got in 2015 would qualify as cruel and unusual punishment. Bama players like Ragland, Allen, Payne, and the gang dang near beheaded him. I still do not know how he finished that game. I don't think I ever saw a QB take that much punishment, bruised and battered, and every part of his body beet red but standing.

Mullen came out with this big 12 empty backfield look and it was like red to a very angry bull for 4 quarters for a Bama defense plenty good enough to get to any QB the hard way. That was one game I was absolutely convinced Bama's defense was taking something personally, they were trying to neuter Prescott. And Mullen never changed his gameplan and let allowed Dak to take all that punishment late in the game when it was far out of reach. What a human being.

Rooting for Florida. Not only is Bama better than them on both sides of the ball, they also have to play LSU December 12 while Bama would hypothetically have a bye week. Plus rematch games in CFB seem to favor the loser of Game 1.

The no.1 season was 2014. We still contained him but 2015 was the real beat down

I think Mullen's trick at half time will carry over and give UF a good head start and i don't the UGA will be about to come back from it. I think Florida takes it 34-24, then we rape them in December.

You oddly don't see that very much in the SEC. I remember the 1999 Bama team that beat a Spurrier lead Florida team twice. And Dubose leads them to victory. How's that for irony? Can't think of another.

In the SEC:

South Carolina Auburn 2010
Auburn UGA 2017
Florida FSU in a Sugar Bowl in the 90s
And obviously Bama-LSU 2011

Specifically, I meant Alabama but it's interesting that it has happened to the barners twice. I forgot about SC.

Nobody for UGA scares me the way Kyle Pitts for UF does. With our track record of covering a TE, I fear he could take over and win the game.

That was one of the most raucous and rowdy days I've ever seen in Bryant-Denny. When they busted out the C Murder and the DL went nuts State had absolutely no shot.

Auburn/UT played twice in 04, didn’t they?

I'm not sure I have a preference, but I think if somehow the USC kid took the UGA job and was able to stretch the field some they could be scary against us, especially in a Round 2 scheme defensively and us without Waddle.

I just don't think Florida has any hope to stop us and that we could stop them enough.

Yep - Auburn thrashed them in Knoxville early in the year (when Ronnie Brown ran over Jonathan Allen).

That was a typical Fulmer team that lost a random game to a mediocre team (6-6 Notre Dame at home).
