What is up with the Cleveland and Newark being the host cities for the first two weekends of the west region? Who in the hell picked these cities?

eta: meant to say "Why are Cleveland and Newark host sites at all if the organizers and sponsors are trying to get people to travel to the games? Both of those cities, in winter no less, are bleak choices."

I’m confused. First round sites are irrelevant for what region you’re in and Newark is the host site for the East region?

Cleveland is a first and second round host. These round hosts are not region specific. In fact, they often are hosting teams assigned to different regions.
The second weekend host sites are region specific, hence the names of the regions. Example that Newark is the East region host, Atlanta the South region host, etc.

Sorry guys, I dumb.

My overall point was that those cities draw little excitement for people wanting to travel to the see their team play.
