Coach gets it...Yet we have armchair coaches in our fanbase who think they know more.

Just wondering, of all of your 682 posts, have any of them not been downvoted?

That was good. Also Saban invoking the 24 hour rule after the NCG. Can we not get 48 hours for this one?

I know Jalen is known for never changing his expression during a game, but to me, he looked relieved standing on the sidelines.

That's exactly what I saw. I don't know what happened to him mentally, but he visibly got worse as the year went on. Something was up.

It was a regressing situation all year. Daboll clearly doesn't run a system suited for Hurts and trying to mesh the two all year had to be highly stressful.

But Saban was right in what he said - Jalen helped put us in the position to be where we were. Tua came in and took us home in the final 30+ minutes.

Saban naturally wanted to let Hurts down easy, but perhaps if Tagovailoa had played in the Auburn game, we'd have won that one too.

Maybe. Maybe not.

I can't disagree with that as its certainly possible but I was thinking more of the whole year. MSU game in particular. I will say at Auburn was a very, very hostile environment so its hard to say exactly what would have transpired.

It was quite eye opening how much worse he got as the season wore on. He is clearly not suited for Daboll, which isn't unexpected, Daboll is a guy who has speant the past decade coaching all the concepts Tom Brady uses. But it was still something to see. Jalen last year was slinging 40 yard ropes to ArDarius, beginning of this year he was decent on the PA and 10 yard out early in the year. By late season he couldn't hit a goddamn slant.

Ya I am a Daboll supporter, but certainly wish he was more adaptable to different styles for the long run or if, god forbid, Tua goes down at some point.

He did, the WR dropped it.

Thought about that the other day and I think it worked out for the best. Putting Tua in against AU might’ve won that game for us but it would’ve also meant more film for opponents to help scheme. (Of course that would also mean more reps with the 1s and better offensive production). I also think losing to AU allowed this team to refocus and get healthy. It put Hurts on notice and it probably helped us avoid Oklahoma & Mayfield.

While I would love a win over AU and a SEC Crown, I think it all worked out for the best.

Agreed but this is not a typical situation. Most coaches recruit QBs with similar skill sets to fit their philosophy. Nobody, including Saban, thought that Jalen would progress this slowly as a passer. Daboll stepped into a weird situation in his 1st year on the job.

Nothing but respect for Jalen and what he has brought to the table. It was time to make a change and we are all glad it worked out this way.

Let's remember that Jalen jumped in as a true freshman and made a lot of big plays for this team the past two years. Limitations? Absolutely. But the kid played his heart out and always represented the University well.

I hope that he finds a good niche on next years team.

You know what I mean. His play visibly degraded. No one can argue against that.

I think one thing people are getting hung up on is saying Jalen didn't develop and thats all he could do etc... and that everyone who had anything good to say about Jalen was dumb. Really, Jalen was better at QB, and got worse as he went along.

I really couldn't care less if any of my posts were downvoted cabama but I know there are quite a few that have agreed with me and see the lack of appreciation for players who contribute to this team.
