Mods, maybe consider stickying this one for a few weeks. Or not. Whatever.

Kodi.

Install Kodi here.

Follow the link and download Kodi for your appropriate OS. For Fire Stick users, you need the android ARM 32 bit version.

Kodi takes a lot of work, and I'm not gonna list the best addons here. But if you go to this website, you can get in one location the current, best-working addons. Look for anything with a sports section, a Live TV section, or a 24/7 section. Dont shy away from addons that look like they have a focus on British channels. Many of the best addon creators are in the UK and do a good job sometimes of getting good links to US channels.

People in the US may want to consider a VPN, but IMO that's only necessary if your will play torrents to watch your games. Honestly, torrents are a great way to find those truly HD links, but you better have great internet and take precautions if you are in the US. I don't need a VPN in my location, and so I can't help you with that. If anyone can chime in with VPN advice, please do. But you can find a crapload of non-torrent, traditional streams if you put in the time.

Kodi users should click on the addon and then follow the step-by-step instructions to add each addon. It seems daunting at first, but you'll get the hand of it pretty quickly. FYI, use Kodi version 17.6.

Off the top of my head, kodi addons to check would definitely include Wow, Deceit, Firecat, Rising Tides, Supremacy, The Magic Dragon, Mobdro, Startec, Skynet, Global Tec, Man Cave, 7 of 9, TvTap, Scythe, Arrakis, Aspis, Aragon Live, and Selfless Lite, among others. There is even a new dedicated CFB addon called Gridiron Legends. We'll see how that one pans out.

For folks with Android devices, you have some very, very good live tv apps:

TVTap

SwiftStreamz

Mobdro

Live NetTv

Avoid Redbox. It's a sucky clone of Live NetTv.

For those whose options are limited to Windows, you've got Kodi, but don't sleep on r/cfbstreams on reddit. You can always find a 540p stream, usually a 720p stream, and sometimes really nice HD. Being able to play torrents opens up more options as well. US guys play at your own risk. Regarding regular streams, Grandma Streams is always reliable, FYI. Seriously, cfbstreams is the truth. If Bama is coming on the TV in the next 30 seconds and I don't wanna miss the intro, and I gotta get a good, reliable stream up right fricking now, cfbstreams is the quickest way to make that happen.

To anyone using Windows to play stuff, you must use a good adblocker. I use Chrome with Ublock Origin installed as an extension. It works great. Firefox is honestly the superior browser, but it has a slow load time and it's therefore my plan B. But you gotta use a good adblocker or the sites hosting the streams will eat you alive.

Regarding streaming sites, I can link to what worked last year and what I know today. However, the best sites change from year to year, and so please, if anyone can list good sites, please do.

DimSports

FirstRow

goATD

Live2all

ZUNOX

FirstOneTV

Stream2watch

AceStreamChannels

Arconai

AceStreamSearch

Well, that's about the extent of my knowledge. I can't do the ESPN Play stuff or whatever it's called now, so you're on your own on that. Whoever's got the deets on that or good sites to recommend, please chime in.

If anybody's got questions about the above, ask away and I'll try to help. Roll Tide.

Sorry, Mac users dependent on Mac OS, IOS, OS X, etc. - good luck. r/cfbstreams or another website likely is your best bet. Kodi kinda works on MAC OS, but it doesn't work on IOS without jailbreaking your phone, which is probably a bad idea. Obviously, your are SOL on the android APKs.

I have an antenna, a smart tv, WiFi, and no cable. I watch the ABC/CBS games through antenna, the rest on WatchESPN.

I did this last year and had a terrible experience. I'd rather pay for cable for the reliability.

I ditched cable over the summer and picked up Sling TV last night. I ended up getting 14 days for free via Firestick...I love it so far. I've wasted too much money on cable.

I did this last year. Be prepared to not have a quality experience across all games. Sling TV pulls their stream from the same place watchespn.

If you are tight for cash sure, it's an alternative but you get what you pay for most of the time. I wouldn't invite anyone over to watch live content via stream, especially prime time games that are probably over subscribed by ESPN.

You'll also have to stay away from the internet during games since you will be anywhere from 5-15 mins behind cable or SAT.

Just saying, I had a bad experience last year with cord cutting and live sports. I'd like to prevent anyone else from going through that haha.

I live in a free country and have crazy fast fiber optic internet, which allows me to watch CFB (or anything else on earth) in 1080p without paying a dime.

But if you are happy, I'm happy for you.

Thanks for that info man. What would be a better alternative? I'm glad this is a trial period, I'll see how it handles the streams this weekend.

How fast and how reliable is your internet?

It's pretty reliable at 60 Mbps. It's just my wife and me and we only use 3 devices.

It's not just your internet connection though. It only takes a couple Mb to stream HD. I'm not going to get into troubleshooting the internet backbone and cloud services but it's more than just your home pipe.

I'm not really sure about alternative services assuming you are looking legitimate services. Sadly some of the, uh "grey area" alternatives can provide better services than paid in my experience. I went back to cable. The cost was worth it to know that if I have time to watch TV, it's solid.

While I'm waiting for your answer, I'll describe my home set-up:

Game Room:

55" Sony with dedicated Laptop and dedicated Nvidia Shield with hardwired ethernet, Samsung sound bar with wireless sub-woofer.

Living Room:

40" Sony with dedicated Laptop and Chromecast, Sony Soundbar.

Bedroom:

40" Sony with dedicated Laptop and Chromecast, Klipsch speakers.

Kitchen:

27" RCA with firestick and Klipsch speakers

Master Bath:

27" RCA with Firestick, Chromecast, and Bose Speakers.

All devices are connected to 30mbps fiber optic internet via Wifi, except the Nvidia Shield is ethernet. I do not have any cable TV or any TV service of any kind. I use a combination of Windows devices, FireSticks, and Android phones streaming to Chromecasts to watch everything on earth absolutely free - movies, TV, live TV, etc. I can soak in the Tub and watch Bama in HD for free. The whole F'n world is free if you know where to look.

And it's really, really easy, although I live in a country where the government and your ISP are not monitoring what you are doing and frankly don't care.

But if you have good internet and either a good Windows computer or a good Android device, you can watch whatever you want for free.

It'd take more than 2mb to stream 1080p. You might get 720 to play if your ping was <5. For 1080p, you need at least 7mb or so, and if you have coax, you need to be above 10 before you can feel good about it (receiving 10 at that moment, not just paying for 10). However, anyone who's still getting internet through a coaxial cable is receiving a fraction of what you're paying for. Coax is highly affect by rain and weather (static electricity in the line) and has low bandwidth. Anyone who has access to fiber optic - get it. It'll change your life.

You are talking about throughput. Yes, streaming is much more than just throughput speed. You need a low ping, an ISP that won't throttle you, a fast device to receive and use said internet, and a government that'll let you do what you want.

And all of this is greatly affect by all the physical internet cable/lines between you and the server hosting the thing you are watching.

However, I must admit that all of this is a hobby of mine and I enjoy putting in the time. Anyone who doesn't want to do any work to get their games needs to continue to pay for TV. If you internet is not amazing, you need to continue to pay for TV. If you are not compute savvy, keep the TV services. Etcetera...

Honestly, the easiest thing to do is:

Take a good laptop, preferrably Windows, and connect it to the TV via HDMI. Open Google Chrome and install Ublock Origin. Navigate to https://old.reddit.com/r/CFBStreams/ and watch whatever you want.

I'd wager a lot of money that this would make 80% of you super happy and is completely free.

EDIT: I used the above method to put Purdue v NW on ESPN on my 55" Tv and it looks really good. I'm guessing it's 720p. It took about 20 seconds to make it happen, and I'm less than 60 seconds behind live.
