Wow so he did have a stroke. If he was talking this evening, it must not have been too bad. That’s great news

Nurse here. I don't deal too much with neurological issues but here's my take...
I've seen posts after yours stating he had a blockage in his neck that resulted in clots forming and ultimately a stroke, this happens a lot. Don't see it too often in 40 year olds, but I've seen people in their 30s have heart attacks so stranger things have happened.
They're probably referring to carotid stenosis in his neck. Basically plaque build up in the main arteries that go to the brain. Clots form to this plaque build up and can break off and clog an artery in the brain, hence the stroke.
Sounds like he had what's called an ischemic stroke, hopefully minor. These are common and are the type of stroke that can be treated much more easily. As far as deficits go, its a wait and see most likely. A lot depends on his symptoms that led to him going to the hospital and how quickly he went and how quickly they were able to treat him.
If all of this was caught pretty quickly and treated relatively quickly, he could potentially have very little deficits if any. With strokes the most important thing is time, the quicker everything is caught and the quicker you get to a hospital and get it treated, the more brain tissue can be saved and the fewer deficits there are. Every case is unique though. Hope this helps

Very encouraging for him and his family. Prayer and positive thinking go along way. God is always in control.

Chris has been, shall I say, a bit portly in the past. However, a while ago he decided to lose quite a bit of weight. Don't know the peak weight to current.
Nonetheless,I wonder by losing a lot of pounds if this aided in his condition.
