There have been a lot of "sources" saying that Bama would start the bidding at 3 mil and go as high as 4.5-5 over 6 years. It just depends on if Marshall makes the decision based on money. But the same might be true of Smart. He might not agree to a Texas offer until Marshall turns us down, because it seems we will outbid Texas for whoever we want.

Checked out 247, someone posted a fake twitter post saying Marshall accepted a 6/25 million with $5 million buyout...from Bruce Feldman. Its a fake, but interestingly enough, this Lucky fellow everyone has been talking about posted that these are the salary numbers he's been hearing...

Basketball is a profitable sport, and a lot of profit has been left on the table lately. Seems to me that a winning program could easily cover the extra mil or so. The problem is that you can't "know" who will produce a winning program.
CNS was called one of the best investments UA ever made. A winning BBall coach could be a great investment, even at these silly numbers.

It seems like we are in the driver seat. We are offering a combination of things that no one else appears to be offering. Complete control, a massive recruiting budget along with a top 5-10 salary.
Unless Gregg stays in Wichita, Texas decides to match our money or another school comes out of nowhere we are clearly in a great spot to actually make this happen.

Those are just numbers that have been appreciated by a lot of people. It sounds high, but not absurd, which follows the thinking that we will overpay a little bit.

Let's just make everyone happy here and call it a day. We want Marshall for whatever reason. Texas wants Shaka for whatever reason. Make the 2 deals happen, and let Marshall get on the road to recruit, and begin the goal of making Alabama the best Big time Football and Basketball school in American. Hardly any schools can really say they are great at both football and basketball consistently throughout history. UK, Duke, Indiana, UCLA, UNC, UConn, etc are typically referred to as "basketball" schools. Bama, USC, FSU, Miami, Penn St, Notre Dame, etc are typically referred to as "football" schools. There are only a handful of teams who can say they are competitive in both (Ohio State, Florida, LSU, Michigan). I'd like us to be like those schools, and on any given season compete for a national championship in either sport. It's to hard waiting for football season each season....I need high competitive basketball to make the wait not so bad lol
