Mobile Infirmary and one of the Urgent Cares are the only two places that are conducting the tests. All other tests from the other THREE hospitals are sent there.

Had a feeling Mobile's numbers were about to explode. Didn't make sense their numbers were so low, and I'd heard from a couple of people that they were having a hard time getting testing kits.

I don’t think testing around here is anywhere near where it needs to be (obvious statement). I heard a story earlier of someone in the Birmingham area who had been told by their physician that they needed to be tested. Physician did whatever referral sheet or whatever is necessary for the physician to do. The person called to set up an appointment for testing at the UAB testing site, and for four days has gotten no answer.

Abbott has developed a test with positive results in 5 minutes and negative in 13 minutes.

Here it seems the longest lines at stores are for people buying ammo and guns.

The major labs in the country are running low on ingredients for the test and are getting more tests then they can handled daily. So starting to see a major backlog and supply chain issues.

I am going to try to keep the number updated in the thread title and OP as much and as quickly as I can. Number is changing a pretty frequently now, and I am not always where I can check.

Thanks again pville for getting the numbers posted in the thread quickly/frequently.

I'm beginning, just off all the anecdotal evidence, to think that about 5% (if that many) of people who have this are in the "positive cases" data?

Even in NY where they have done a lot of testing -- I think even ignoring the national directive to wait for approval of private labs early on -- I know 12 different people already who are sure they have this (all signs + exposure to someone testing positive).

Only 1 of those 12 has gotten a test (positive by the way).

The biggest problem with this is that so many leaders seem to wait until they test and get a lot of positives before they act like it could possibly be widespread in their areas.

Do we know anything more about this potential 4th death in AL? A couple of other sites, including the Johns Hopkins map, list a death from COVID-19 in Mobile County. However, the ADPH site still has the death total at 3.

I think the ADPH has been really slow to acknowledge deaths.

I dont trust the accurate causes of death to be provided to them.

In Huntsville in particular, there are concerns from a couple of hospital staff I know that the hospital is suppressing information.

With Abbott saying they'll be producing several million of these tests per month, we may see huge rises in the number of confirmed cases.
