Don't ask our OL to pin and pull, just have them go body on body and we can push enough to pick up these short yardage runs

What was the play call on 3rd and 1 where Grubbs called a pass play and Simpson threw it to the left where no one was at? Simpson then runs the ball (looked like a chicken out there trying to run with a ball) on 4th for the 1st down. Seemed liked Grubbs was trying to outsmart the def on 3rd and it didn't work.

My "issue" with a select few, not all of the trick plays is that I am old school, Bama MTAQ by pounding the crap out of the defense, putting a dagger through their and every member of their familys' hearts and making them beg Bama for mercy old school.

I admit I am having a hard time falling in love with this new Bama, and CFB more scoring is better mentality. I am trying to get on board though.

The trick play against AU wasn't needed at all, We were doing well offensively to that point and with Ty having issues with connecting on long balls in a normal snap and drop back, a slow developing flea flicker just never seemed necessary to me.

With all that said, I do love Germie, Brooks and RW reverses, wildcats, Proctor runs/catches etc. but I, in my notsoknowledgeable opinion, consider those to be more normal low risk/high reward than trick plays in today's football.

I don't consider reverses, jets, and pop passes to be trick plays in modern football. Those are just constraint plays to keep the edge defenders honest. I think packaging fleaflickers and running it multiple times in a season in a conference where every opponent has analysts keeping up with what you had for breakfast this morning is a bit dubious.

I don't think these guys have learned that you've got one maybe two shots to run a gadget play in this conference. If you run it every few weeks, you are going to basically never see it work.

Agree completely. As always, y'all are much smarter than me and I lurk a lot as I learn more from you than vice versa.

Just felt the sting of YStar's post in another thread stating something to the effect "...acting like we run 50 trick plays..." and felt I should clarify my "stupid trick play" emphasis in my posts were not meant to make it seem that he was correct in his assumption but rather that this one trick play made me spew a 20 minute fbomb-laden tirade at my TV causing my fiancé and dog to leave the room and not speak to me for a few days.
