This pretty much reinforces his point. Maximize our pass pro because we know our RBs are good enough to make some yardage on their own. We should maximize our ability to strike through the air which means giving AJ as much time as possible.

Just my opinion

-- "The No. 1 thing that we wanted to get out of this week is what kind of progress are we making as a team?"

-- Saban praising guys who will play on the scout team who will get team prepared for opponents.

-- "Those guys are going to be some of the most important on the team."

-- "Everybody seems to be doing a good job, but we need everybody to go a good job, regardless of what their role is."

-- Dakota Ball back at practice.

-- Amari Cooper practicing "quite a bit."

-- Wilson Love the only player who isn't practicing much.

-- None of the freshmen quarterbacks have beaten Blake Sims for the No. 2 job.

-- Finding a No. 3 QB is still a work in progress.

-- On Landon Collins: "He finally is comfortable and confident in what he's supposed to do. He's played really well, especially this fall camp ... He's one of our best safeties as well.

-- On worrying about low hits now that helmet-to-helmet is in focus: "I haven't really thought about it that way ... If you tackle properly, that never happens."

-- Saban says Alabama will have something on its helmet to honor Mal Moore this season.

-- On Deion Belue: "We certainly have every confidence he can do a really good job for us this year."

-- On Dee Hart: "Dee Hart is one of the most competitive guys on the team."

-- The guy's willing to do anything you ask him to do ... For his size, pound for pound, I don't know if there's a tougher guy on our team."

-- On offensive line changes: "Sometimes you want to look at the options you have with how it may affect what you do."

-- Saban said offensive line was ultimately more comfortable with Arie Kouandjio at left guard and Austin Shepherd at right tackle.

I think Hart is one of CNS's favorite players. When ESPN showed some practice footage several days ago, CNS was asking his DBs if he needed to bring Dee over to show them how to be physical

@Marq_Burnett: Saban: "If everybody on our team was as competitive as Dee Hart, we wouldn't be worried about complacency or any of that other stuff."

@Marq_Burnett: Saban says Landon Collins is in competition for starting safety. "He's one of our best safeties."

@Marq_Burnett: Saban on Landon Collins: "He's finally comfortable in what he wants to do. ... He'll definitely have a role in dime."

I'm loving the stuff about Hart, as I said pages ago he is my favorite over Drake. Also love what I'm hearing about Landon Collins and I hope he starts.

I've always liked Hart and never got the hate for him. I hope he has a big year in 2013. He deserves it after everything's he's been through the last two seasons.

There is a rumor going around that Drake is suspended for the first game. Not sure how true it is, but it might explain why he is not getting reps behind Yeldon. Any truth to this?

I hadn't heard that. It would explain why Hart moved ahead of him but that could also be due to ball security concerns. One would think he would be going thru drills last instead of 3rd if he's suspended or in the doghouse so who knows?

I was hoping to see more of Drake this year. The kid has a lot of speed, but ball security has been an issue. I'm curious to see what Dee Hart will be able to do. He is smaller than most of the backs in the Saban era. Seems more like a change of pace guy than part two of the one-two punch. I'm trying to keep an open mind, but I prefer the bigger bruising backs to be second like Henry and Fowler.

I think both Henry and Nudie will have significant roles more than just back-up (especially Nudie) in this years run game especially in short yardage and RZ situations. Henry is the most athletic and fastest guy I've ever seen at his size (245) he is Bo level speed no shite if you watch the HS film it is similar and Nudie is a human bowling ball with quick twitch moves and deceptive speed but he is more of a downhill runner needing a head of steam

I'm really excited about seeing both as well as Tenpenny and Tyren Jones all have a role this year
