Sal was out of left field initially even from insiders. His name appeared a day after the initial candidates.

Coach Nick Saban is playing close to the vest on these hires

Exactly, none of the “insiders” had Sal on the initial list. It wasn’t until the last couple of days that his name even popped up. Just go back and look through this board. None of the local reporters even mentioned Sal as a potential candidate.

Based upon what I read, we should have known because Saban wanted him last year. Just don’t go acting like he is the second coming. He is a good coach and recruiter. I expect the DL to be much improved because he is in Saban’s mold. Where as Kool wasn’t.

I have to think that Coach bringing Sal back is for his experience. The youth movement on defense went up in flames. It's always good to have an old pro in the coaching room

If we got Jimmy Lake that is a home run hire.

Very good rep in OL circles. Was highly respected in ATL last year.

Cole Cubelic thinks the Flood hire is a good one.

Cecil Hurt just responded to a previously posted tweet which read "The question is whether Nick is done with promoting in-house" ... He responded at 3:42 "Hiring Jimmy Lake would suggest "yes".... ((He has since deleted that tweet))

He isn't the only OL guy who seems to think/has heard that Flood excelled with the Atlanta OL. He should be an upgrade from Key at the position coaching wise, he has to be a good recruiter in the DMV though with his time spent there.

He will keep Alabama relevant in New Jersey as well.

Not sure about his other ties in the mid-Atlantic and further up the seaboard.

UW fans are going to lose their minds... their boards were just celebrating watching bama lose all these coaches and talking up how this was the time for UW to strike

Thank him for his time, there will be jobs opening up post NSD, Kul would be great for many programs a step down from outs.
