I really didn't want Flood. Oh well.

I liked Gattis and look how that turned out. He seems to be a petty bitch

Why are people assuming that Flood has been selected? He was interviewed, but others were too. Maybe Saban has offered one of the other candidates, such as Ryan Silverfield, Allen Mogridge or Rob Sale.

Eh, Gattis did great work with our WR's and that will pay dividends for us for the next couple of years. Thanks for your time, good luck getting shitstomped by OSU every year at UM.

The info leaks have stopped, which of course could line up with Saban going out recruiting and thus no interviews can happen, but people are connecting the dots and assuming him going out and recruiting indicates that part of the hiring process is done.

The guy on rivals said it appears it is going to be Flood a few hours ago. I have no idea if he is good or normally in the know.

Also I just read up on the Colts O-line coach... great technician, also called Denzelle Good a failure for missing time due to his brother's death, something the organization had supported and encouraged him to do. Do not want.

quote:

And Denzelle Good wasn’t playing for the fans Monday night. The right guard was bulldozing Broncos players, lowering the two large chips on his shoulder — one for his late brother and one for how the Colts, his former team, treated him. “I had a lot of anger already and that didn’t help it, so I knew a fresh start was what I really needed,” Good said before practice Thursday. “And I am using that anger against the guys I am blocking.” Good’s brother, Overton Deshan Good, was killed in a drive-by shooting in South Carolina on Oct. 2. Good left the team to be with his family there and returned to Indianapolis a week later.
He had started the game before he left but never played another down for the Colts after he returned. Good said that offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo was upset that he had left the team and that in a meeting in his office a month ago DeGuglielmo told Good he was “a failure.” “I came back after my brother was murdered and I was dealing with a lot of personal issues,” Good said. “That didn’t sit well with (DeGuglielmo). He wanted players that fight through things and play.” Good was in a funk when he got back — “it was hard to just get back to my normal self when my brother was just murdered” — and DeGuglielmo got more and more upset with the guard. And then it all came out in the meeting. “He told me that as long as I was there, I would never play for him again,” Good said. “I would never play another down because he felt disrespected. I wasn’t going to play even though I felt I was as good as anyone on the field playing.”
So Good immediately went to general manager Chris Ballard and asked for his release; Ballard granted his wish on Dec. 1.

once you creep into the 52-54% run play calls you are limiting your offense for no reason.

Bama hasn’t been that run heavy since Saban has been here. Even in the salad days of Ingram/T-Rich then Lacy/Yeldon Bama was very balanced with respect to the number of plays rushing and passing. Beginning in 2016, Bama began to lack the physicality of the 2008-2015 teams.

They don't need that "physicality". The 2016-2018 teams would kick the arse of most of the 08-15 teams with the way the game is called these days. Saban adapted to the changes in how the game is played and called and made a better team for it, being run first or defaulting to wasting first down running instead of passing is old school thinking that is not borne out by the stats.

Edit: Think about some of our slower run stopping linebackers trying to stop the RPO scheme we ran this year. The type of "physical" player that were on this 08-15 teams can't stand up against the RPO and spread elements in the game today.

We will just agree to disagree. The 2015 team with Derrick Henry imposing his will on defenses was a better all around team. Jake Coker was no Tua, but he didn’t have to be. Bama RB’s, while not on DH’s level were plenty talented but run blocking hasn’t been the same since Bama moved towards being more finesse.

This team also struggled with recruiters, instead of experienced coaching.

A very reliable BOL insider: "My guess is that it’s not 100% either way yet. I really don’t know. The people I’ve talked to expect them both to be gone. But ultimately only 3 people truly know... Saban/Tosh/Kool."

Go Blue Jim is wasting time trying to take something from Nick Saban while OSU is beating the guys F'ing brains out.

Not totally off limits, but we need to be careful. Any verbatim posts of premium content should be very small and not too frequent. Generally, those sites realize that little snippets posted on other sites probably help boost their own site's subscription sales rather than hurting it. But if big chunks get posted or it's done too frequently, someone will report it to the pay site and that'll cause trouble. Also just as sidenote, when we're paraphrasing stuff, it's important for us to be careful that we don't "spin" what we're rewording.

Let me get in on this agree to disagree stuff. With all due respect, the idea that running the ball is inefficient is, IMHO, unadulterated bullshite. There has been one rock solid tenet to football since it was first played: to be successful in football you must be able to run the ball and be able to stop the run. Defense and rushing still wins games.

Statistics can be massaged to say almost anything you wish. While I do agree that the modern game is biased toward encouraging passing and more scoring, it doesn’t change the basic tenets of the game. I dare say passing may be more EFFICIENT but less EFFECTIVE than running the ball.

I think the statistics and studies used to conclude passing is more efficient is fundamentally flawed in that there are some nuances that aren’t being taken into account. Or maybe I’m just showing my age. But you can’t convince me otherwise.

There are many things that used to be considered rock solid truths that we eventually realized were wrong. Running and stopping the run being priority number 1 is now one of those.
We used to think that smoking was healthy for example, with physicians recommending it. Then we learned more and realized that the basic assumption was wrong.

Well in that report not to be named. These were some expectations on the staff next year : Sark, Flood, Taylor and one of the two between Golding/Tosh. Names to watch: Bo Davis, Kevin Steele, Lorenzo Ward, Freddie Roach etc..

I'd much rather keep Golding. Love his style of aggressive defense.
