Yeah lost 6-3, but at least we claimed the series.

I really don't get this team. But part of it may be just a lack of depth at pitching for midweek games. At this rate we will be 20-10 in league play this year, but 33-22 overall?

Next up is the annual loss to Auburn in Montgomery. Bama is like 1-5 in this game.

I thought this was another very good SEC series this weekend. The starting pitching was not quite as good but still solid. We are really missing Burrows. I think with him, we win last Sunday vs L5U and it could have affected this last game. The offense was surprisingly very good this weekend. It's great to win 2 out of 3, but I think when we are near the end of the season we are going to look back at these two opportunities we had to sweep and really regret it. I am planning on going to the Auburn game this week. I know we normally lose it but who know this might be the year. We have to start winning these midweek games so this is a good time to start.

The combined record of our two opponents this week is 26-23 (3-9 in the SEC). There's no reason for us to lose to Auburn.

At some point, we have to start stringing together 3-1 weeks if we want to avoid Tallahassee again.

You hit the nail on the head with this one. The bullpen is being spent in games one and two and it hurts to not have a closer. Both of our SEC losses were games where we were ahead/tied in the 8th.

There was no reason to lose to UAB either. Not only did Bama do that, but they got run off the field.

I won't argue. I said last week this time that we couldn't lose to an under .500 UAB squad and we did. Truth be told, I have zero confidence in us winning the midweek game against Auburn. They've owned us in Montgomery.

My only point is that we have to play a full week. Relying on taking two out of three every weekend won't last once we get to Ole Miss, Arkansas, aTm, Miss State and South Carolina.

I could make an argument that we just finished two of our easier weekends on the season and only have two "easy" weekends left in Georgia and Auburn. After that, I don't see a series left on the schedule that I will go into expecting us to win.

I wouldn't consider a 3 game series in Baton Rouge against LSU as "easy"

Not by any means, but LSU has been going through some own problems lately and nowhere near as good as they have been.

A couple more observations from the past week or two

- I want Daniel Cucjen at SS until he shows that he cannot do it. Avant has made 7 errors this season.
- Conner Short being back is a huge boost to this offense
- Will Haynie seems to be getting consistent at the plate which is HUGE

Probable Pitching Matchup
UA - Jon Keller (Sr., LHP) vs. AU - Andrew Mitchell (So., LHP)

I like us throwing Keller. It is a little more aggressive than we normally are in this game. It will hurt us for the weekend if he throws 6 or 7 innings and can't come on in relief but I want to beat Auburn so let's go for it.
The other option is he is just the first of many pitchers to throw tomorrow night and won't go very long regardless of how it's going.

he should be fine for the weekend if he has to pitch sat or sun right?

Well it depends on how long he goes. If he goes 3 or 4 innings yes. If he goes 7 or something like that then no.
