Right now, we have a batting average of .328 with 44 hits in the season. Can't see our ERA on my phone, but we're tied for 54th in the nation.

Realize statistics right now are sorta meaningless, but just an interesting thing to look at if you follow stats really heavily in baseball.

Still very early in the year, but Bama has played very well.

is pitching or hitting ahead in the early part of the season. I heard two different "experts" say different things. I would think hitting is ahead until the pitching guys get "warmed" up more and can go longer into the game

Hard to say. Batters are still trying to develop timing and swing mechanics. Pitchers are developing velocity, location and feel for secondary pitches.

Last night was a really good win. Troy is a solid ballclub and we have generally struggled with these in-state/Southern Miss road trips mid-week. Let's go to North Carolina and win a few more games against good teams.

Yea, seems to be rounding into a decent team. Nothing great, and you can't predict how SEC play will go based on the first 2 weeks of the season, but they seem to have some SEC caliber freshmen and a deep pitching group.

So here we go to another regional trip to Tallahassee!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE GASPARD SPECIAL!!!!

I always felt in high school and college that I didn't get comfortable until mid-March when it warmed up a little, though that could have been because I was a weak arse punch and judy hitter.

The general rule, especially in college baseball because of how early it starts and the weather, is that pitchers have the upper hand early.

Good win over Troy. Burrows now holds the UA record for saves.

I'm not crazy over the fact we've already used him in half of our OOC games. Gaspard has a way of over using his relievers and turning their arms to mush by May.

I would say pitching. We have our weekend rotation down and several good options in the midweek. Plus Foster in the 8th and Burrows in the 9th is great. Plus guys like Castillo can come out of the bullpen.

Pitching starts with the advantage and wains throughout the year as arms start to wear out. This is why you rarely see a young pitcher in MLB last an entire year. With that being said late in the college season a dominant pitcher can absolutely shut down hitting.
