It won't be.
SMU avoided Clemson, Syracuse, Georgia Tech and Miami.
The first tough conference opponent they played had them down 17 at half. They lost to a B12 opponent at home.
Their biggest win was an overtime victory of Duke and a 7 point victory of Louisville.
They literally don't have the schedule to withstand a second loss. The same goes for Indiana but they did well to avoid playing a second tough team.

It would literally not make sense with how they ranked the last two weeks and how they bounced Miami.
Nobody in that committee thinks SMU is better than Miami. SMU just avoided Georgita Tech and Syracuse.

Slightly off topic, but why is Notre Dame still allowed to participate and still aren’t part of a damn conference? If we are gonna have these oddly specific rules about conference championship winners then why aren’t they forced into one? Literally still being privileged because of their team history and legacy.

That would've been a trash playoffs. Yes let's give JSU a 9-4 G5 team a spot in the playoffs just so they could lose to Oregon by 40 points and call that an amazing playoff game even though no one would watch
Those bozos over on that sub are really something. People have this obsession with conference champions even if they are an unranked conference champ

I've been saying , but maybe it's time to step out of the conference to get more recognition.
