Mac Jones is making a move in Patriots camp. Although Belichick said there is no way he would start a rookie QB, Mac continues to get more reps than Scam, and the reporters up there say Mac has clearly been the better QB the last 2 practices. Mac was "dropping dimes" in the rain and in full pads on Thursday.

In joining Las Vegas, the former Alabama running back enters a position room made up exclusively of former members of the Crimson Tide who now are all competing ball carriers of the Raiders.

Now the Raiders have four former Alabama RBs on the roster: Josh Jacobs, Kenyan Drake, BJ Emmons and Bo Scarbrough.

Hope they all make the roster. Won’t be missing any of their games then.

Mac Jones will be on this Thursday for his first preseason action.

Also Damian Harris has earned RB1 status for the Pats. In their system he probably won’t be able to have huge stats though because they love to rotate guys a lot.

Not a bad thing for Damien Harris... Less wear and tear.

Seems like Mac was better than Scam again yesterday. Mac ran a "perfect 2 minute drill". One reporter said Mac is more athletic than he looks. Said he made some nice throws while rolling out.

New England Patriots reveal rookie jersey numbers (247)

quote:

Ahead of their first preseason game of 2021, the New England Patriots have officially decided on jersey numbers for their rookie players. No longer will the rookies wear numbers that would not be normal to see in action, most specifically with quarterback Mac Jones.

The 15th overall pick out of Alabama in the 2021 NFL Draft, Jones had been wearing No. 50 in minicamp and training camp, but will now wear No. 10 at the professional level. His former Alabama teammate and Patriots second-round pick, defensive tackle Christian Barmore, will not wear No. 51 but instead don No. 70. . .

The Patriots will kick off their preseason slate Thursday night against the Washington Football Team at home. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be the only home game New England plays in the preseason. The regular season begins for the Patriots on Sept. 12 against the Miami Dolphins.

Washington has a very good defense. Scam will likely start and go against the Washington 1st team D. I just dont see them letting Scam run the ball very much in a game like this.

Alabama on the Steelers
RB Najee Harris
S Minkah Fitzpatrick
OL J.C. Hassenauer
DL Isaiah Buggs

Alabama on the Eagles
QB Jalen Hurts
WR DeVonta Smith (injured)
OL Landon Dickerson (injured)
OL Ross Pierschbacher

quote:

The second game will feature the New England Patriots welcoming the Washington Football Team to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.

Alabama on the Patriots
QB Mac Jones
RB Damien Harris
LB Dont’a Hightower
EDGE Anfernee Jennings
DL Christian Barmore

Alabama on Washington
DL Jonathan Allen
DL Daron Payne
S Landon Collins
WR Cam Sims

quote:

All-in-all, that’s 17 former Alabama standouts between these four teams. We know that at least a couple of them won’t be participating on Thursday night, and there could be others — such as Fitzpatrick or Hightower — who sit out this first week of preseason action.

But either way, expect to see at least a couple of former Tide stars on Thursday night.

So Tua vs Mac first real game of the season for both? That would be amazing.
What’s happening with Reuben Fister, still injured?

Foster hasn’t been able to make the cut since his injury in 2019.

Hurts looked pretty good. Had one really strong through on a rope to a TE.

One of his incompletions was straight up dropped and another was a slight overthrow, but the announcers seemed to think the WR should have caught up to it.

Tua physically looks like Russ Wilson.

Russ has put on a lot of muscle in his 30s, but Tua definitely looks more in football shape and like a young Russ for sure.
