If we won four games I'm pretty sure someone else was winless. We won four games before Curry got here. Okay she won 4 more. That equals 8. She only won four more games in year 8. She's the next John Wooden for only winning four more than previous. Come on stat guy, Google me something that will change my mind kid. My son's team need a stat keeper. Serious Inquiries Only! Maybe trying to salvage this thread is pointless, but what would y’all’s recruiting pitch be in you were the women’s basketball coach?
Come play in front of 1/5 as many fans as our rivals have?
Come play in a terrible arena?
Come play for a team that hadn’t won a tournament game in your life until this year?
This is the one job on our campus that I think is truly a bad job.

Alabama won 2 games in 2012
Alabama won 2 games in 2013
Alabama won 8 games in 2021

Very proud of what Curry and the ladies have accomplished this year. Glad Byrne is running Alabama athletics, I don’t want wbb to be like UT football.

Totally agree. Making the tournament every couple of years and occasionally advancing is probably the program's ceiling for now. Softball and gymnastics are the women's sports that Alabama fans care about and carving out a niche fanbase is going to be nearly impossible without first becoming as successful as either of those teams. The problem is that without the fan and financial support in the first place, becoming as successful as those programs will be nearly impossible as well.

I think if South Carolina were good at other sports, their fans wouldn’t have jumped on so quickly.
There’s only so many fans out there, and if we’ve got a softball series and WBB game occurring at the same time, more Bama fans will probably choose softball.
South Carolina also came up at a time that WBB was just starting to get put on TV consistently.
