We can't control who's on our schedule or if they're "good" or "bad" when we play them. All the team can do is play the team that is across from them. There are measuring sticks in games like this. Are we dominating teams we're supposed to dominate? Are we struggling against teams we're not supposed to struggle with? Then you can follow this process all the way down to position groups and individual players.

I think the team did what they were supposed to do by easily handling Wisconsin. CHECK!

I think the OL did what they were supposed to do with pass protection for Ty. CHECK!

I think Ty did what he was supposed to with clean pockets and open receivers. CHECK!

etc., etc. etc.

The OL obviously still needs to work on run blocking and the defense needs to work on assignment football, whether it's setting the edge, staying home and not letting a misdirection burn us, or don't miss opportunities to tackle RB's and/or QB's in the backfield for losses. These things still need to be worked on. But overall, we did what were supposed to do to Wisconsin and that's blow them out.

Look at Texas, how do you think they walked away from the UTEP game Saturday? Just be thankful we're not dealing with those type of QB and offensive issues. They should have dominated that game from the get go, but struggled to get up by 17 to end the game. These type of games do have measuring sticks in them and Texas has a lot of offensive concerns at the QB position. We don't, so be very, very thankful.

Yeah, I think that what gives me the most hope is that we clearly have a good QB who can get the ball to really good receivers and put a lot of points on the board. That in itself can make up for a lot of other issues. Even if our D doesn't show up, we should be able to at least compete in a shootout.

That is, IF our oline can be just serviceable. I think that our running game will be fine now that Jam is coming back, and a good rb2 has emerged in Riley. Who knows how much they'll throw Dear out there, but I hope they do. Offense really just comes down to can our Oline continue to get better.

Getting Kennan back will be significant. Hubbard seems to be back to playing at an elite level after a first game stinker. We know that we have some serious talent in our defensive backfield. If Pierre and Russaw emerge as a legit edge rushers, then that'll be huge. I think 41 needs to be on the field more often than not at mlb. We have the dudes on D IMO, they just have to put it together, and we need our defensive coaches to continue to get better and figure out where they are failing. Drop the egos, evolve, tweak, study film on other teams' good defenses and apply to ours, etc.
