Missing CFP is losing the battle
Getting rid of Bill O Brien and Pete Golding because of it is winning the war

If backing into the playoff made us keep them then there are way bigger issues. It doesn’t have to be one of the other. I would’ve prefer us to make it and then fire both, because that’s logical

Yes, I know Bob's probably gone. But Golding's arse is probably more responsible for missing the playoff.
If his drunk arse is back, it'll be the same bullshite, 2-4 losses next season.

Honestly, I suspect that Golding will be back.

Someone pull out in front of Golding as he leaves a parking lot then throw some alcohol in his car. Desperate times call for Desperate measures.

If Golding is back, Saban has lost it. Saban has always been loyal to a fault to coaches that would turn on him in a minute. But Saban also has been very spotty on his coaching hires.

To be honest, Saban has done remarkably well with his coaching hires. He's had to deal with an ungodly amount of coaching turnover due to losing successful assistants over the years. It's amazing he's done as well as he has over such a long period of time. BoB and Golding are the exceptions, not the rule. Look at just his Offensive Coordinators: McElwain, Nussmeir, Kiffin, Daboll, Sark, that's pretty impressive.

This. And he had a string of great DC hires as well with Steele, Smart and Pruitt. I'm sure a few here will probably disagree about Steele but dude was superbly better than the drunken hobbit running the defense today...

Lupoi was terrible.
I didn't say they were all good, that's just not possible. Lupoi was a great recruiter, not a great coach.
ETA:
Looked to see what he's been doing since he left Bama. He's been a defensive line coach for 3 different NFL teams, and he's currently the defensive coordinator at Oregon. Apparently some people think he's not that terrible. But yeah, he wasn't up to our standards.
