Never heard this story, and made me laugh.

This is probably just one episode that contributed to Lane not getting serious head coach consideration.

In the full interview, Lane admitted his immaturity, took the blame for every issue he and CNS had, and admitted every arse-chewing was his fault and deserved

I liked his comparison to a child vs parent relationship. As a child, you don't fully appreciate what your parents are trying to impart to you. Now that he is a parent (HC), he has a different perspective and stated that he is unsure he could have handled a younger version of himself on his own staff as well as Saban did with him.

Spot on.

When you watch the whole thing, Kiffin doesn't come out looking bad (seems to have matured) and Saban comes out looking great (no shock there). IMO, the best part is where Kiffin says that as a head coach, he'd probably have reacted a lot worse than Saban did.

I also noticed that Lane took responsibility for his childishness, and that's a sign that he has grown up some. But, I will say that he still comes off as rather passive/aggressive even now.

I'm not too crazy about passive/aggressive personalities, and I think that, although he's made some strides, Coach Kiffin still has quite a bit of maturing to do.

But that's just my opinion.

Well, he's been sober 3+ years now, so that has likely helped focus his energy.

I think he's still a bit immature compared to others, both his age and in his position.

But I also think that's his style. At some point, you are what you are as a personality. While we are never incapable of growth, denying your true self and pretending to be something you are not lacks authenticity. And it is an authentic nature that allows one to connect and build trust as others learn what to expect. Holds true for assholes, pushovers, and everything in between.

I can agree with that.
