Then along comes joe brady in his fifth and final year.
It was joe brady.

That is a part of it, but it is the in game playcalling, managing the flow and rhythm of the game, and making adjustments that can't be so easily duplicated.
Watch snapshots of the booth during games. Brady is active and in complete control of the playcalling. Esmingher is usually sitting, watching and spitting in a cup. I'm sure he retains the final call on all plays from the offensive coordinator position, but he seems more than willing to have delegated that responsibility in its entirety. And, rightfully so. Brady was phenomenal.

Didn't Ensminger call the plays in 2018 when their offense was total dogshit with the same personnel as this season? I'm not going to sit here and say they are going back to 3 yards and cloud of dust Lesball next year because I think they will keep all of the concepts they used this year. I am not confident that Ensminger is going to be able to recreate what Brady did with a new QB. It'll very likely be a watered down version of what they did this year. Better than what they had, but not a top 5 offense in the country.

If LSU didn't at least promise Brady the OC job going forward I would say that was a huge Special Ed screw up. He may very well be just an NFL guy, pretty much what we went through with Brian Daboll. But I never heard they were going to promote the guy to OC, just that they were negotiating for Brady to stay. That would seem like a huge difference for an ambitious young coach.

He may have had a preference for the NFL, but Brady has spent more time working for college programs than in the NFL. Daboll hadn't held a college position in nearly 20 years prior to his one season with us. Very different situations. I'm not sure offering him the full OC title with a big raise would have been enough. With the way the NFL approaches coaching hires Brady will have a shot at an NFL HC position in the next 3-4 years if he does well with the Panthers. That doesn't happen if he stays at LSU.

This seems to be the case. The Athletic has a story up that indicates Brady didn't really enjoy recruiting. NFL position provide a break with some down time. Recruiting and putting up with 16-18 year olds BS doesn't seem to provide a break.
So for equal pay, do you want to work year round and deal with 16-18 year old teenagers or do you want to have a couple of months off each year and deal with 21+ millionaires?

That isn't surprising given his age. He's too old to relate to them on a personal level and too young to relate to them the way a parent or mentor does.

The common thread is that both Brady and Daboll quickly migrated back to the NFL. My only point. Why they left I couldn't care less.

My question is did LSU offer Brady the OC position? As far as I know, they didn't. Being an OC must matter to Brady or he wouldn't have taken the Carolina job. To suggest he took the job because it's a "stepping stone" to the HC position, only highlights that he was extremely ambitious, as most of these guys are about their coaching careers, and he wanted that OC offer. Was he offered the position is the big question I would be asking if I owned swampland on the Bayou?
There is also some kind of love affair going on with coach "E" since his days as a TE coach under Les Miles and O. Hanging on to an OC that only a short while ago said he didn't want the job as permanent OC and would only do it temporarily to the end of the season is outright amazing and dumbfounding. The guys near retirement, and has never come close to this season's accomplishments, even with a lot of the same talent last season.
How do you not make it crystal clear to Brady that after the Clemson game the training wheels are coming off? And a substantial raise?
