I think Oatis will be that guy next season. He showed signs of it this year.

Honestly, that would be an absolutely great hire.

I know he refused to leave Wisconsin when we tried to get him in years prior, but ever since Fickell brought his defensive staff + his Cincy luggage, I guess he saw the writing on the wall that he might not be needed.

I guess that rumour that he was staying by that Nebraska "insider" was a big-brained move by him after all

I'll be shocked, but ecstatic, if Pete Golding isn't here next year.

Yeah, I get the feeling that Golding will be back. Most of those who cover the sport than I’ve seen talk about it indicate that O’Brien is gone but have said very little about Golding.

Plenty of rumblings out there, I will just say I will be absolutely shocked if Golding is retained. I expect him to land another job after the bowl game

I can't express how much I hope you're correct.

Maybe it doesn't have to be one or the other. If there is truly no one willing to give Pete a job then he can't really complain if Saban demotes him and hires a new DC. If Kelly is really gone demote Pete to safeties coach, which is what he started out coaching anyway, and bring in Leonhard to replace him.

It would work but not sure Leonard would come if the former DC was staying on the defensive staff.

We need some better Jimmy and Joe's DL's and soon. If your plan is outsmart every team, then good luck. We need some DL that can whip the guy in front of them and kick azz.
