If this Newman guy is legit then GA is going to be a real threat for Natl Championship.
They have top receivers recruited as well as a 5-star TE. They already have a top notch RB. OL is the only question but they had good depth, didn’t they?
It is not going to be as easy when we play them as some think.

They're definitely a threat to win the off-season national championship.

GA's defense will be excellent in 2020, but they've got some rebuilding to do offensively and also must massively retool the Oline. They had a bit of an exodus to the league and elsewhere, and lost their best Olineman to Tenn via transfer. They also have some issues at the OC position.

GA will be good, though. Great? I dunno. Many are saying with this exodus, FL is the team to beat in the East.

Getting Newman was a giant box checked by them, however. Might be an upgrade, honestly.

Side note: Tenn's 2020 Oline will feature three 5-stars, one of which just transferred in from GA and is a future first-rounder.

From another board:
quote:

He did pretty good against teams that didn't have a good defense but they ran lot of zone read and RPO. So UGA will have to change their offense for him to have success. UGA's lack of offense this year was mind blowing considering the talent they had. They have 5 players on offense leaving for the draft early and like 2 returning starters on offense for 2020. Big part of their issue is lack of creativity so I wonder how good this transfer will do. He'd be great at a place like Auburn or the Big 12 imo but UGA seems like an odd choice. He does seem to have a pretty good deep ball but he kinda throws it up for grabs to his tall WR's who were 6'5 and 6'3.

He faced 1 ranked team this yr, Clemson and was 6-14, 41 yards, 2 Int's, 39 QBR, 12 carries for 19 yards. Against power 5 teams in 9 games he completed 54% of passes, 7.2 y/att, 15 TD, 10 Int, 126 QBR, 16 carries/gm for 54 y/gm, 3.4 ypc. His QBR against power 5 teams was 9th best in the ACC of the 13 QB's that had qualifying stats. In the 5 games WF lost he was 64-130, 49%, 6 y/att, 8 TD, 8 Int, 155 y/gm, 107 QBR, 27 y/gm rushing, 2.2 ypc. No way to spin it, those are horrific stats. Wake had 2 all-conference WR's and 2 OL. According to Sagarin, Wake played 1 top 30 team and had the #64 SOS. If UGA can reload on the OL and start running zone read then he could have a lot of success and UGA's running game could be dominant. But they lose 4 OL, 2 RB's and 2 TE's so it could take a little time for the offense to click. Curious to see if Kirby will switch his offense to something more like Auburn's power spread hurry up.

Newman is 3rd on PFF's rankings of 2020 draft eligible QBs behind only Lawrence and Fields. This is monster get for GA. Newman is legit.

Sure but what about the back half of the year? Dude feasted early and then dropped off. Assuming he isn’t as good as Fromm UGA is about to make a huge leap back on an offense that was only decent in the first place. WR is the only position that they would improve at. I’m more worried about USC at a neutral field at this point

Bama will murder USC. USC isn't a good football team with a bad coach.

Look for around a 41-17 Bama win.

Doesn't matter who is under center at UGA if Coley is still calling the plays.
