If they go to a 16 team playoff shouldn't we be reducing conference games?

Or games overall? Instead of going to 9 conference games, which was stupid to begin with, the league should be reducing games. Bama was barely able to field a team in the seccg due to injuries. By the time you get to a NCG it's going to be last man standing or the team that is just the luckiest.

I think the conference championship games should be ended and best 16 teams BY A METRIC should be the field. Start the playoffs on the former CCG weekend. Have the semis done by the weekend before Chrismas. Play the CFPCG on NYD.

Adding more teams and games means the likelihood of a team making the title game due to a good draw during the season instead of being one of the 2 best teams goes up.

12 is the max I'd do in the cfp...4 conference champions and 7 at large based on BCS like metrics that give great weight to SOS + highest ranked G5 team based on the same metrics. Then they can be seeded 1-12 by the committee...no weekly playoff rankings.

Why include the lesser conferences as autobids? SEC champion should be the only automatic bid and the rest should be at large. It means nothing to win the ACC.
