I know everyone has penciled him in as gone, but I don’t know if that’s the case anymore with the ACL year. Just looking at most mocks, he’s sitting around the end of the second or the start of the third. With the recovery timeline it would give him enough room to come back in September or even August, and he could work himself into a late first.

I know it sounds crazy, but Devonta came back and he wasn’t looking at a third round grade

Both he and Williams are possible. With an improved Oline and a Heisman QB there, it would certainly seem prudent.

Update: Williams has declared. Metchie hasn't at this point.

At this point, Metchie is a 3rd rounder in my mind...which means nothing, but I do know that no team is going to use a first round pick on a receiver unless they project as a WR1. Third round money is still pretty good...but nothing like the first round. Just depends on whether he thinks he's hit his ceiling in college. If so, even with the injury, he goes. Now if he thinks he could legitimately be a WR1 type prospect...who knows.

Smitty was considered the third best of the Bama WR trio... probably a 2nd rounder... until he came back and blew up into a high first rounder with several more millions in his pocket. And he returned not really knowing what Mac would turn out to be. Metchie knows he'd have the Heisman winning QB throwing to him.
