If we find out he was involved in large scale drug dealing, it’s one thing, but as it stands right now, this is a worse look for the state and the task force than it is for the school or the the basketball program.

So the University should not be able to expel a student despite felony charges until they are convicted in a court of law?
Has he been expelled? Last statement I saw was he’s been removed from campus pending further investigation.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Assuming he doesn’t get kicked out of school or jail time, looks like Oats is sticking by him.

Nate Oats on his "Hey Coach" radio show tonight on Aden Holloway: "Look, we've got standards in our program. We've got ways we've held our guys accountable. We try to keep everything in-house. Obviously some of the situations you can't. This is one of those. Situation is a little different when we found out what was going on this morning -- I found out this morning. I guess it all went down this morning. We had to suspend him pending the investigation by the UA office of student conduct. We're disappointed in his behavior. With that said, we still love him. He's still our guy. We're going to get him the help that he needs. ... We're preparing to play without him this weekend."
Edit: Bryant beat me to the post but I’ll leave this up for people without twitter, which should be everyone

Right or wrong, Oats is going to stick by his guys. Commendable in a way although it’ll lead to him being constantly dragged for it.

Definitely commendable. One of the best things about Oats is he really doesn’t give a shite what people outside of the program have to say. He doesn’t care about being dragged and so far I’ve agreed with everything he’s been dragged for.
At the end of the day, no matter what happened with Aden, this is an innocuous and victimless crime. I think it’s dumb and selfish but not something you discard one of your players for.

My Guess is Biz gets this pled down to a misdemeanor after the season is and is on the team next season

Maybe. Unless his operation was selling to X amount of people including an undercover.
I have hope. He needs to get smarter. Take his lashings and get back on the team.

I love this response.
Disappointment but not disassociation. This is a good example to give parents which let's them see our program actually backs and supports unlike others who would use and dump.
In the end I don't want to defend this but this is not back when I was in school when weed was seen as problematic, we were specifically tested and guys had systems etc they paid to keep them clean in college and in the league.
We're at a time when this stuff is readily avaliable in most areas. I don't see why this needs a capital punishment unless there is some significant organization structure which has committed other crimes.
Downvote away lol

I’m not going to downvote you. I think he’s got to be done for this year but you’ve certainly got to give him a chance to learn from this and come back even though this wasn’t a guy with a few baggies of s**t. He had a pound. This is not much ado about nothing. He doesn’t learn from this and doesn’t take advantage of the chance? Then you cut him loose.

Marijuana is just another drug that does society no good and should be avoided. Especially when it's still very illegal in this state, and IMHO, should still be illegal everywhere. But that's for another thread and board.
Who do I feel sorry for? Not him. But I feel bad for the entire team.and frankly the fans, too.
I hope we don't coddle him and he is no longer associated with our program

Don't blame him. Dude had weed. He didn't rape anyone. Didn't diddle kids. Wasn't selling fentanyl. Just weed. I bet half the coaching staff gets blazed every night.

He’s doing better than half the people who write the laws right there.
