Professional oddmakers set the opening lines. It's usually based on injuries and public perception. But it's to get people to bet, not who they think will win.
The line on the BAMA/tenner game will have jack shite to do with how much BAMA beat USC by or BAMA wouldn't have been favored 21.5 over USC the week following a loss to Vandy.

How do y’all like that Golding defense now. He was terrible at Alabama and terrible at OM. LSU defense is getting better with new DC. Ours remains same as it has. And don’t tell me Aldi has better DL than Alabama but they do have a better LB than we do. He plays hard.
