Any reason to believe there’s any truth to that rumor?

I highly doubt it. Read the article I just added to my prior post. I've never seen Hank or Tim be homerific or pump BS sunshine, like LSU mods sonetimes do. Hank & Tim give it to you straight.

I suppose Braswell could decide to take a visit to LSU, but I highly doubt it would matter. A lot of commits who are 100% solid still like to have options just in case something major happens with the program they're committed to.

Two LSU commits are Braswell's HS teammates, Jordan Toles and Demon Clowney, who Bama didn't pursue. They try to recruit him to LSU, but his former teammates Shane Lee and Darian Dalcourt are already at Bama and love it there.

Despite the distance, Braswell has visited Bama half a dozen times since he commited in Nov. He has never visited LSU. He's said several times that he feels very much at home when he's at Bama. From what I've seen, his commitment has been steadily getting stronger.

I don't 'member LSU flipping any Bama commits, but I 'member some LSU mods, "insiders" and fans feeling pretty confident they had a good shot at flipping Lia.

LSU has set very high expectations that they'll have a high-flying, high-scoring offense in 2019 and beyond and has been selling that hard in landing recuits. Signing all of of their commits and finishing this recruiting cycle strong may depend a lot on how well LSU meets those expectations against their toughest opponents, along with how their backup/future starting QB performs. I could be wrong, but I'm skeptical that LSU has the OL or future QB needed to meet those expectations. We'll see.

Imo, LSU is more likely to lose Toles and Clowney (among others) than they are to flip Braswell. And, LSU boosters' effort$ can't prevent LSU commits and targets from still going elsewhere. There's really nothing they could do about it.

Why Drew Sanders is now a 247Sports 5-star recruit (BamaOnLine)
quote:

247Sports updated its Top247 Rankings on Tuesday afternoon, several recruits earning their fifth stars along the way.

One of those said recruits is Alabama commit Drew Sanders. The Denton (Texas) Ryan product now stands as a five-star prospect both by 247Sports and the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.

247Sports' national director of scouting Barton Simmons shed light as to why 247Sports awarded the UA pledge with his fifth star... (read more)

Now that Smith has committed are they pushing for or do they want Guillory? I don’t think he had any effect on Roy but I was curious about if we want 2 NT.

I expect Smith's body (6-4/340) to be reshaped so he isn't limited to NT. Guillory and Jackson are about 6'2" and even though they have long arms, they seem best suited for NT. It's clear that Bama wants Burch (DE) and Roy (DT/DE). Guillory and Jackson seem pretty comparable. Guillory is signing and enrolling early and Jackson isn't, so I think Bama would sign Guillory if he wants in.

It's hard to tell right now how many DL Bama will have room to take (it appears to be 3-4) and whether Latham and Jones will end up signing with Bama. I've seen chatter that Jones needs to be more open to playing OL. Idk where Omari Thomas, a talented and versatile 6-5/300 DL/OL, is on the board. His recruitment is pretty quiet, like Smith's was.

ETA: Imo, the best finish (considering needs, talent and versatility) would be to land Burch, Roy, Smith, Guillory and Thomas, with Latham and Jones flipping somewhere they'll have better chances of playing and starting.

Sidenote: I think Seth McLaughlin may be willing to grayshirt since he'd probably just be limited to the scout team next fall. (Just my speculation.)

4* WR Arian Smith picked up 4 CBs to UGA today (from UGA homer mod Kipp Adams, 2 FSU mods and SBN reporter Bud Elliott) following Steve Wiltfong's July 15th CB pick to UGA. Those are Smith's only CBs.

ETA: BOL poster said, "I’m friends with a coach at Lakeland HS. He says Arian hasn’t made up his mind. Says Alabama is in it along with UGA, FL and FSU. Kids from Lakeland really like the Florida schools it seems. I’m going up for a game this season. They are STACKED."

Arian Smith is on the USA U-19 track team. They just won the Gold as a relay team.
Kid is fast. Definitely want. This kid and that white kid from Texas is going to give Georgia some serious speed if he goes there.

Three-Point Stance: Where Big 12 stands for 2020

quote:

Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell’s three point stance is here with thoughts on Big 12 recruiting, some huge Big 12 commitments and some random recruiting thoughts.

The first two points are Big 12 related, but the random thoughts part is interesting.

3. And finally, more thoughts rattling around the brain

Here are some odds and ends from the recruiting world, which never stops spinning ...

Miami landed a very good commitment from defensive end Chantz Williams, who I like a lot and probably better than most. He’s not the biggest end out there but he’s explosive and plays with good balance. He’ll have to bulk up a bit in college and he’s athletic enough to play linebacker if he can’t get big enough to play on the line, so I really like his versatility.

Arkansas added a couple of nice pieces to the puzzle in linebacker Martavius French and defensive end Tyrece Edwards, both from Tennessee. Landing French bodes well for their chances with Memphis linebacker Bryson Eason who I have projected to head to Arkansas as well.

How about running back Zach Evans keeping us all guessing with visits to Texas and Texas A&M, two schools that didn’t make his “final five” released awhile ago. Many still think this will be Alabama, but watch out for LSU and I have a sneaking suspicion that the Aggies will be in this until the end as well.

Five-star Kelee Ringo is a strong lean to Georgia according to my sources and it will be interesting to see if he commits on his next visit there or if he holds off. Even if he does commit, he’ll likely take other visits.

I don’t think Rakim Jarrett ends up in this LSU class. It's just a hunch. I can see his recruitment ending like Stefon Diggs did years ago with a late commitment to Maryland. Don’t ask me why. I’m just hunching.

PSA:

SUMMER SPECIAL: 3 months of BamaOnLine for price of 1 !!

Note: Three months for less than $10 total is a great way to see if you like it. You can cancel before the monthly auto payments begin or any time later. There will also be special offers to upgrade to the annual membership (gives you VIP read access to all the other team sites) for half price (1 payment) which works out to about $6/month. Those two specials are what I did.

Top 5 uncommitted 2020 WRs/TEs

quote:

With the dead period ending and rankings updates around the corner, now is a perfect time to take a look at the top uncommitted prospects at each position. Quarterbacks and running backs already went under the microscope and today we take a closer look at the wide receivers and tight ends. Here is a summary of where the recruitment of these prospects stand heading into their senior seasons.

Arik Gilbert

Top contenders: Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama

Recruiting outlook: Gilbert’s recruitment is a very tight battle between SEC foes. Tennessee holds a commitment from Harrison Bailey, Gilbert's quarterback at Marrietta, and the Vols are telling Gilbert he’d be used more as a wide receiver than a tight end. Georgia may have a slight lead though because they desperately need tight ends and have made it clear they will be used early and often. Alabama is also in the mix but Tennessee and Georgia are the likely destinations.

Farrell’s take: I’m sticking with Georgia here even though I’m sure it’s tempting to play with Bailey and try to be a big receiver at Tennessee. Gilbert wants to see how Georgia uses the tight end this season but even if they don’t utilize the position that well, I still think he stays home and plays for the Bulldogs.

Darnell Washington

Top contenders: Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Miami, LSU

Recruiting outlook: Washington’s recruitment is wide open right now, but it is pretty clear that he will end up in the SEC. He is a coveted target because of his unique skill set and seemingly limitless upside. Look for teams like Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, and possibly Miami to receive official visits this fall. After those visits, the eventual outcome of Washington’s recruitment is become clearer.

Farrell’s take: I wouldn’t count Miami out here at all with its connection to Bishop Gorman, but I’ll pick Alabama at this stage. He wants to play in the SEC and they are selling OJ Howard to him. Others will be in the mix for awhile and there will be plenty of twists and turns but give me ‘Bama right now.

This must be some kind of reverse jinx shite. He never predicts anyone to sign with Alabama.

It's rare for sure. But Bama clearly is the perfect place for Washington. He'd be crazy to not jump on the great opportunity he'd have to start at Bama as a true freshman.
