What's the word on the return game? Any idea who will be returning kicks/punts? Sorry if this has already been addressed.

Cyrus Jones seems to be the lead returner.

Here's a good one for everybody: What do you expect from Damien Harris this season?

I'll be cautious and say 60 carries for 384 yards (6.4 YPC) and 4 TDs

I can see him getting a few carries a game with the 1s and then of course a few in garbage time, but I get the feeling that with the depth issues at RB Saban won't feed him in garbage time too much.

Nope, it's not hinted at. It's been declared 100% outright we doing that shite full time now basically.

In his press conference yesterday he mentioned the lineman saying about which QB they liked "Since we never huddle we don't know who is back there".

I caught this too. I'm surprised it hasn't made it to the rant yet.

It may not mean anything, but that quote, the coaches Saban consulted with in the off season, and the request that reporters not talk about what they see the last couple of weeks before game day really make me think we are going to see something different this year. Probably not as drastic as the change to the wishbone, but very different from what we've seen from past Saban teams.

Disclaimer. I rarely know what is going on in my own home. I have not been to a full Alabama practice since Saban was hired, and the last time I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express was 1993. So take it from me a pure speculation. Others may know much more.

Most important is nobody is picking Alabama which is I think is just awesome. Lets see how everyone else handles ESPN and the media swinging from their jocks every week.

2 years no championship, not much championship respect - this team better be hungry.

On ESPN yesterday Luginbill and Bellotti had Bama as their 3 seeds. The latter's Final Four mirrored mine, though I'm not sure on seeding.

OSU
TCU
Bama
USC

I don't know if USC is gonna get there for sure, but Kessler is legit and they've got almost as much talent as anyone. Imagine USC/Bama playing for the title and then opening the next season. It does not get bigger than that. ESPN would never stop fapping.

Just sounds like the usual out of practice.

We play what should be 4 or 5 (Wisconsin, Georgia, Arkansas, LSU, Auburn) of the best rushing attacks in the country and I'm gonna be severely disappointed if any of them gets 100 yards on more than 3.5 YPC on Bama.

That USC pick is a pretty bold one if it came after Sark got in trouble for being a drunk.

However, if they make it to the playoffs, that could well save his job for next year. If they have a mediocre year - we may be facing a USC with a new headcoach(how crazy would it be if they hired kiffin back - yes I know it'll never happen).

I don't see Sark as a top tier coach, but I do hope they get it figured out. Bama has Saban, Michigan has Harbaugh, OSU has Meyer. I want USC and Notre Dame (not that I like either) to get back to the top too. CFB is better when the traditional powerhouses are all on top, IMO. I'm really excited about the opener with USC next year.

So some rumors that Cyrus will have some role on offense this year? That would be cool I guess. He must be an explosive player.

He was a WR as a Freshman. For a few days now it seems like people have been saying there are some situations in which he could line up on offense. Kiffin and Saban know way more than me, I'd be surprised if we took one of our talented WRs out to put our #1 CB in to get hit.

He's one of the most explosive players on the team and he has Saban's trust. He's already the primary Punt Returner so a few offensive touches to give opposing defenses something else to prepare for could have some positives.

Also, maybe we have enough Corner depth to take a few personnel gambles.

I don't really disagree with any of that. I just worry that we're due for a big time injury and I'd hate for it to be anybody, but we definitely need Cyrus' experience in the secondary.

Just my 2 cents of course. I'd love to see him making plays on offense too.

I actually like it. Maybe it will help recruiting some players that want a chance to play both ways.
