I hope OJ Howard has been working hard on his routes. Seems like over the summer scouts were saying he ran some lazy routes, if he acknowledges that can fixes it, he'll have a chance to be the weapon we know he can be.

How so? I've given you multiple examples of when the player who gives the team the best chance to win is a FR, then Saban plays that kid. Regardless of position. It just so happens that a FR QB hasn't given Bama best chance to win yet over others, but when have there been opportunities like this?
JPW was a starter Saban inherited. His backup was McElroy and he clearly gave the best chance to win. AJ was his backup and he gave best chance to win over Simms. Last year was the first real QB battle since Saban got here and a FR wasn't in it. This is the 2nd QB battle and it features a guy who couldn't win the job last year, a RsFR, and a True FR.
I'm not saying Barnett will start, but simply ruling him out b/c he's a FR doesn't (your word) compute with how Saban has operated in the past.
quote:
QB is the most important player on the team and I doubt a true frosh will be given the reins
It is most important position, that's why you don't simply GIVE it to someone b/c he is older. You give it to the best guy. I promise you, if the best option is a FR he will get those reins.
quote:
Most true freshmen do not start for NS but become roll players or on ST
Every time a true FR has been the best option as his position he's started. When he was not quite the best option, Saban gave him a role that offered valuable experience while still helping the team.

From yesterday
Dallas Warmack following in his big bro's footsteps.
Cam Rob looks top be in great shape.
Tony Brown is freak(no homo)
Is it me or has Jon Allen beefed up a ton since last year? Dude's a freakin' horse.
Directing the troops.

Not shown there, but Hootie looks like a linebacker playing Safety.
Ya know, I noticed the reports saying Reuben was at Mack in Dime. Didn't expect to see him in that role, though it could just be trying him out there.

Not disagreeing with your logic about best player gets to play, but I would be shocked if a true freshmen starts at QB under NS while he is at Alabama. NS has a QB who is mostly a game manager and I think at least one non freshmen will fit that roll. NOw halfway through the season if the starter is not getting it done then all bets are off

Has he? I know listed weights aren't 100% accurate, but he's currently listed at 272, which is what he was listed at last year IIRC. Though I think Hand MAY have been listed around 280ish last year and is currently listed at 274.

Alabama returned the the practice field Friday afternoon, as the Crimson Tide players practiced outside and in shells on a partly-cloudy, 93-degree afternoon in Tuscaloosa. It was the team's 11th practice of its 2015 fall camp.
Here are several tidbits from Alabama's 11th fall training camp practice session on Friday:
- Freshman offensive lineman Lester Cotton was once again absent from the practice field. The reason for his absence is unknown, although it is not believed to be anything serious. Cotton had been seeing reps as the third-team left tackle.
- Redshirt freshman cornerback Marlon Humphrey (pulled muscle) appears to no longer be limited, as he fully participated in position drills and seemed to be back to full speed. Humphrey worked with the second group of DBs on Friday.
- Wide receiver Chris Black (ankle) still appeared to be limited, although he was not wearing a black, no-contact jersey. He did not, however, participate in pass-catching or individual drills. His left ankle was taped and he was wearing gloves.
- Jacob Coker once again led the quarterbacks through individual drills. Coker tossed a couple of on-the-money throws to the sideline to ArDarius Stewart and freshman Calvin Ridley, hitting them in stride and in-bounds.
- The defensive backs lined up in its dime package once again toward the end of the one viewing period. The cornerbacks were Anthony Averett and Cyrus Jones, the safeties were Eddie Jackson and Geno Smith, the Star was Minkah Fitzpatrick and the Money was Maurice Smith.
- Senior linebacker Reggie Ragland was back to working with the inside linebackers during one viewing period.
- Former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett was at the athletic facility. He will talk to the team later today.
- Several scouts from the Buffalo Bills (three), New York Jets, New Orleans Saints, San Diego Chargers and Indianapolis Colts watched Friday's afternoon practice session from the sideline.

yall don't think he looks bigger now than last year? Maybe its just the angle/distance from which the picture was taken.

Nice, his general message is one of wisdom foresight.

Maybe, the angle does make it tough to tell.

let me be clear. I agree in a normal situation that a freshman who is clearly better than a senior should start. But I dispute this logic as it pertains to a QB in a NS offense. That is all. Now please move on.
