Also, for the record, Anoma is still a part of the Alabama football team. When Saban and/or university representatives speak on the issue, then we'll know. Until then, I'm on Anoma's side, as I'm on the side of every Bama player. If and when he transfers, he'll cease to be on my radar in any way, shape, or form - and best of luck to him.

I'm a Bama fan - but choosing to not play for Bama or choosing to leave Bama is not morally wrong, and the kid deserves no judgement for leaving. If he behaved inappropriately, he deserves most blowback for that he receives. But no kid is a bad person for playing elsewhere, and many of you need to remember that.

Doesn't sound like it.

ETA: Good luck to the young man. Hope he straightens out whatever issues he has, if any.

Yes, thank you for reposting my own link from pages ago. Kudos.

However, Stephen M. Smith is not a representive of Alabama, not a representative of the Anoma family, and not Nick Saban. When anyone who fits the above criteria speaks on the issue, we, as fans, will know. It certainly looks unlikely today that he'll return, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he did. Stranger things have happened.

For anyone who cares, this article indicates that Anoma has until August 28th to enroll in classes. He apparently left Tuscaloosa by plane on the 26th, the knowledge of which undoubtedly spurned Cecil to make his inquiries. The timing is quite odd for all of this, regardless of the why.

Edit: clarified August 28th

Stephen M. Smith

Maybe has some good sources. We won't know how accurate his article is until Bama, reliable "insiders" and/or other outlets cooberate the new info he's reported.

I want to be clear: I'm not hating on Smith. I'm only saying his article does not include definitive info as to how this all shakes out, as that info doesn't currently exist. I'd wager a guess also that his sources are solid.

He doesn't and the fact that you need to keep framing it this way as a means to dismiss what is said is just a logical fallacy.

Cecil is however generally credible and seems to try and maintain professionalism over trolling.

If you can't understand the difference between a guy like Cecil and someone like Cowherd or Clay Travis, then I really don't know what to tell you.

If he doesn't enroll until the 28th then he is already off the team. His window - if it exists - is days, not weeks.

If he's got a legitimate family issue, it's certainly reasonable/possible for Saban to give him some time. Anoma could miss the first half of fall camp and still show up and play for Bama. But the deadline for Fall enrollment is August 28th, not a day earlier.

Anoma obviously is in a tough spot and may leave, but the GOAT could bring him back (if he wants to try) . We'll see.

I never put Cecil in this category. Those are your words, not mine. I simply said I was disappointed in Cecil, and had lowered my opinion of him a bit. And this is still true. His story is defensible, certainly, but I believe he chose to publish half a story rather than chance getting scooped by another journalist. All journalists face this conundrum frequently. I think Cecil chose wrong in this case. You disagree. It's fine. Let it go.

I really don't think Saban has time for all this drama.

Anoma doesn't appear to be on the bus.

So you are upset because he posted a factually correct article and didn't include a bunch of rumors to go along with it.

Yeah, that's pretty fricking stupid.

No, I give credit to Cecil for not speculating. But he still published half a story on purpose so as not to get scooped. But he had lots more legitimate info that he sat on.

Again, we can disagree. It's allowable - I'm not sure if you are aware of that. And honestly, the ability to agree to disagree is one of the hallmarks of intelligent people.

Let it go. We disagree. It's ok for that to be the case.

A betting man would have him off the bus at this time, yes. But we'll see.

No, I'm not upset. Not at all. But I am mildly annoyed that we can't discuss something else.

This Anoma/Cecil stuff has run its course for today. Would you like to discuss any other Bama football topic? I sure would.

How about that offensive line? Do you think Owens can hold off the newcombers at Center?
