#28 lacks elite speed. He might be a better safety but I don't recall him ever making a tackle so contact might not be his thing.

He’s way faster than alshon. I don’t know if I have a good comparison for him. Maybe like courtland Sutton on the Broncos

Saban said yesterday he wasnt hurt. Said Jobe practiced well last week. Saban said he had a couple of bad plays and sometimes you loose your confidence so they took him out to let him calm down and watch what was going on.

But, Jobe has always had problems with long passes. He has never been able to defend a pass over his shoulder. On the 75 yard off shoulder pass, the big receiver almost pushed him down. And there was another blatant push off later. If the refs are not going to call that, our tight ends should use that technique to get open every time they go out.

Like you say, he has always struggled with vertical passes where his back is facing the QB. You watch elite DB's, and they all know when/how to spin their heads around to play the ball--Jobe NEVER does that. It must be a confidence thing. Either way, he's just a liability at this point. Let's see what Kolaid can do as a starter.

Jobe has regressed from the last couple years. I thought he would be lockdown guy this season. Makes you wonder on his health. The long TD pass against him was a blatant push off by Burks that the refs didn't call.

He might be better served to return for year 4 and ask Nick to move him to safety this spring just to see if that might be his spot. It worked for Eddie Jackson but JMO #28 doesn't have the speed that Eddie has/had.
