2021 at Fresno: They win @ #13 UCLA. The following two weeks they beat a UNLV team that finished 2-10 by only 8 and lose to a 6-7 Hawaii team.
Later on, they win @ #21 San Diego State (12-2). The next week they lose by 26 to a 7-5 Boise team.
2022 at Washington: DeBoer went 4-0 against teams ranked at game time and 3-1 against teams that finished the season ranked. But he also lost to 3-9 Arizona State
2023 at Washington: Obviously his best season by winning every game until the national title, but even in this year there were some duds.
15-7 over 3-win Arizona State
42-33 over 3-win Stanford
24-21 over 5-win WASU
This trend has continued here this season, but a lot of those ugly wins turn into losses with the depth of the SEC.

I keep trying to talk myself into believing that he looked past OK and was implementing his game plan for Auburn... because right now, it looks like we will get shelled Saturday by the Boogs

Too many variables to consider.

I had hoped that DeBoer being an x's & o's kinda coach would help mitigate Alabama not being the most competitive NIL wise. I'm not so confident in that regard now.

So DeBoer is like other coaches in that respect. Saban’s greatest attribute was not losing to lesser teams. The “playing to the standard” while cliche to say, is extremely difficult to love out and he got the players to do it. The NIL/player mutiny/whatever drove him out. There are kids who don’t want to be coached hard. I think DeBoer is better for success in this new version of CFB, but I think the days of consistent joyless murder ball domination are a thing of the past.
