The new posters have been awful. When you start winning though, the arrogant ones come out.

One of my good friends is a dawg, and he had a tendency to be cocky back pre-Saban. I remember his saying “I’m sorry” to me in regards to how badly he expected UGA to beat Bama in 2008.

What bravado? We're excited as hell about the program, anybody would be. It's like people are so used to us underachieving that now that we've got something to genuinely be excited about we should just "know our place".

Let me be clear, not all fans are the same. But make no mistake I interact with UGA fans on a daily basis. Most of my coworkers and friends here are fans of UGA. Even a handful of my family here are. While some have maintained reservations about the success with a “wait and see” approach, many others went “all in” (some of them using those exact words) and immediately following the iron bowl were literally talking trash as if they were equals, as if their program stood of equal footing with that of Saban and Bama. Any given Saturday perhaps...but In terms of overall sustained accomplishment absolutely not. Talks of “change is coming” and “Saban is done,” “the student has become the master” all kinds of ridiculous Star Wars Luke/Vader references. You name it I heard it. And why? Because you won the east and got to beat a crippled Auburn team in a revenge game? Lol child plz.

and nobody thinks we're now bama because we had 1 good year.

Can literally produce dozens of people just in my own circle that contradict this statement. Small sample sure, but large enough to prove that “nobody” statement incorrect. These aren’t phantom names on some message board. They’re living people I interact with on a daily basis (and therefore heard this from multiple times...not just drunk rambling at a bar). Most of them I genuinely like. Some I just kind of tolerate because I have to. But they’re cocky all the same and I just smh at why.

Can you provide examples of the delusion? And not from the SECR. Delusional would be saying we're going to win the natty next year and win 3 of the next 5 or some such. Nobody is saying that

Yes I can. See last response.

quote:

We know that. We are also assembling more talent than we've had at any time in our program's history, to go along with a great staff and full admin support.

You landed one great class lol. FSU has done that too and it did what for them in terms of sustaining success. They just ran off a national championship coach! You have to do this multiple times to accumulate a roster like ours and like I said, do it when you’re bleeding staff year after year (for example: where did Tennessee, Oregon, FAU, and GEORGIA get their current HC from?) How many assistants did you even lose this season lol

quote:

Nobody thinks we're a dynasty FFS

My cousin married a dude who is a huge UGA fan, and he can’t seem to stop saying that y’all are. I understand such a thing as outliers exist, and I do consider him an intelligent person, but you said nobody and I’m saying that’s not true. Maybe not here...but believe it or not the rant is not a perfect representation of the real world. I live amongst a shite ton of UGA fans whose behavior contradicts what you’re saying.

quote:

2012 felt like it was our one big chance. I don't think anyone walked out of that SECCG thinking "hey, 13-16 we'll be right back and get em next time". I don't think ANYone walked out of the NCG last month thinking that this was a flash in the pan. The 2 situations aren't the same IMO.

You mean you hope they aren’t. As of now, theyre both just UGA failing to finish. Something champions know how to do.

quote:

Another bama fan living in GA who apparently knows all about the pulse of our fanbase. Interesting case study at work here.

Not just podunk GA. I live in Buckhead and am surrounded by UGA fans. I live with one FFS. It’s not like I’m basing this all on two or three guys. Again not all fans in any fanbase are bad. Everyone has bad apples. But I interact with enough on a daily basis to feel like I can gauge a collective attitude. Feel free to disagree.

While I was typing this response a UGA fan literally texted me asking me to send him what my idea of our starting 22 for 2018 will be. A year ago i don’t get that text. On NSD my cousin texted me “well today’s gone well” the second it was announced Walked flipped. A year ago he doesn’t have the balls to send that text. So yeah...forgive me if I think that is a level of attitude that a fan of the team that not only DIDN'T win the championship, but failed to do so against the one I root for shouldn’t possess. I’m jus sayin.

UGA fans in Chattanooga were the worst fanbase in the tristate area. I hate UT the most, and I would love to give their fans that title, but UGA fans earned it.

During the Richt years, all you would ever hear about is how UGA does things the right way despite UGA players acting like a bunch of thugs on the field. Their holier-than-thou attitude was ridiculous.

Sorry, but several teams have made it to the national championship and failed to consistently make it back again after a couple of years. LSU, FSU, 2013 Auburn, even Ohio State has failed to make it back to the national championship game after winning a title or coming close to winning one. Excuse me if I don't think it's a given that UGA will be back in the next couple of years.

I live in Fayetteville and go to school in downtown Atlanta. Can confirm all of this-which is why I wear my Bama gear any chance I get.

Plus the NCG game was the first time I’ve been around THAT MANY UGA fans. Some were cool but a lot left a bad tast in my mouth, kinda like LSU fans.

They remind me of scrappy doo.... let them win a title, then I will recognize them as a contender.

I had just recently moved to Atlanta in 2012 and I watched the SEC championship in my new apartment. I forgot I had moved to Atlanta for a brief moment right after the game because I ran outside and started screaming Roll Tide we headed to the ship!!!

When I got about a half mile away from my apartment it then dawned on me, frick, I’m in Atlanta. I started looking around and noticing frustrated fans on every other door step either pacing or smoking frantically.(I lived in the Walton on the chattahoochie complex so it wasn’t exactly thug life but there was some rough looking dudes lol)

As soon as I realized where I was I froze.(pitch black outside for the most part) The celebration quickly went from I can’t believe this awesome shite!!! to omg I’ve got to get back to my apartment (alive). Without another smile or victory yell I sprinted back, hurdling benches, cutting through bushes, running in front of traffic, didn’t matter I was gone.

Got back to the apartment and shut the door and chain locked it. Then after I listened for noises outside for a minute and made sure I was in the clear, I started yelling again. But a little more quite lol

Yeah, I’m a internet tough guy.

That being said, I got a bro that works at Turner studios and he graduated from Auburn and I’ve never heard him more genuine when he told me he prayed that Alabama would beat them in the natty lol
