Recruiting Rumor Mill: New offers shaking up high-profile recruitments

quote:

DE Anthony Jones

Auburn is going to be there until the end and Jones has talked highly of LSU and Georgia throughout his recruitment and now Texas A&M and Oregon are definitely high on the list but according to a source, Alabama is the team to beat right now.

The Mobile (Ala.) St. Paul’s standout could narrow it down to the two in-state programs as decision time gets closer but the Crimson Tide is the team to watch.

Love how Rivals consistently mentions other programs first for players leaning towards Alabama. They did the same thing with Xzavier Crowell in two articles last week.

We won’t hear anything until after the dead period, around March 2nd. There are a lot of good reports coming out about the junior day and upcoming official visits.

Top 10 offensive tackles in the final 2025 On300 rankings

quote:

5) Jackson Lloyd – Alabama

Scouting Summary: “Tall, nimble mover with an athletic profile that points to a high developmental upside at the position. Measured in at 6-foot-6 and around 280 pounds in the off-season after his junior season. Arms measure just over 33 inches. Lines up at left tackle for his high school team. An explosive mover. Fires off the snap and swallows up defensive linemen on contact. Light-footed and works to the second level with ease. Dominates subpar competition, often driving defenders out of the frame. Shows good initial movement in his pass set. Showed improvement in pass protection and his play strength as a senior. Has a high cut build and will need to continue improving his base, bend and balance. Also lines up at defensive tackle and dominates the level of competition on that side of the ball. Has a strong multi-sport background as a top high school player in both basketball and baseball. Shows his athleticism on the basketball court, averaging 15 points per game as a junior, flashing rare above-the-rim bounce and the ability to run the floor at his size. Length is below average for top offensive tackles. May need some time to adjust to the uptick in competition but athleticism and coordination point to an encouragingly high ceiling.”

Top 10 quarterback recruits in the final 2025 On300 rankings

quote:

2) Keelon Russell – Alabama

Scouting Summary: “Well-rounded, instinctive quarterback prospect with surgical passing ability, good athleticism and a battle-tested resume . Measured at 6-foot-3 ?, 181 pounds with a 9 ?-inch hand at the On3 Elite Series prior to his senior season. Grew over half an inch as a junior. At the dials of one of the most talented offenses in high school football, leading Duncanville to back-to-back state titles in Texas highest classification as a sophomore and junior. Showed steady improvement over his final year of high school, winning the Elite 11 Finals MVP and taking his game to another level as a senior. Highly effective and efficient as a distributor. Plays with excellent timing and accuracy. Arm strength took a jump as a senior, delivering with outstanding zip to the intermediate area of the field. Shows elite pocket presence at this stage. Unaffected by pressure and shows a willingness to step up and deliver in messy pockets. A good decision-maker who runs Duncanville’s offense at a high level.

One of the most efficient quarterbacks in the 2025 cycle, completing 74.1% of his passes for 3,267 yards and 35 touchdowns against 3 interceptions over 15 games as a junior. Also rushed for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns. A good athlete as a runner. More dangerous as a rushing threat than his production would indicate. Effective as a scrambler and has a good feel for when to tuck it and run. Showed more playmaking ability as a senior, making some astounding improvisational plays.”

Top 10 tight ends in the final 2025 On300 rankings

quote:

6. Kaleb Edwards — Alabama
School: El Dorado Hills (Calif.) Oak Ridge
On300 Ranking: No. 118 NATL.

Scout’s Take: “So when you talk about Kaleb Edwards, you have to start with his body type. All of 6-foot-6, 235-240 pounds, and he has terrific movement skills, especially at the size for his age. This is a guy who’s got great explosiveness, and has jumped over 30 inches in the vertical. And you see that in his game. There’s moments where he’s lining up in the slot and you see him burst off the line of scrimmage. You see him running downhill. The thing that he has that I think bodes well for him in the future is the fluidity and the overall movement skills that he has in order to separate from defenders, whether that be safeties or linebackers.

…He really does check off a lot of boxes when you talk about the tight end position. I would say this is someone who really brings versatility to the tight end position. He can end up as an inline Y, he can line up as an H, and he can also line up in the slot. He really does do everything that you would possibly ask for out of your tight end. I think this is somebody who can walk in and play a role early, especially if he’s able to add some mass and really help out as a blocker early on in his career. You maybe can set him up with some gadget stuff early. Or, as you bring in 12-personnel and have two tight ends on the field… maybe he’s the guy who detaches.” — On3 National Scout Cody Bellaire

Top 10 running backs in the final 2025 On300 rankings

quote:

3. Akylin Dear — Alabama
School: Quitman (Miss.)
On300 Ranking: No. 83 NATL.

Scouting Summary: “Tough, skilled runner with a well-rounded skill set for the position. Has plus size, measuring in at around 6-foot, 205 pounds prior to his senior season. Should be able to easily carry 215+ pounds at the next level. A good athlete in the combine setting. A bell cow back on Friday nights as a junior. Displays advanced vision in working between the tackles. Runs with patience, setting up his blocks. Able to change tempo and quickly change gears. Shows a nice burst in accelerating to hit holes as they appear. Comfortable in working within confined spaces. Doesn’t hesitate in getting north-south. Displays outstanding contact balance. Runs through arm tackles and spins out of contact. Strong on contact and plays with a physical edge.

…A solid pass catcher. Saw an uptick in his production as a junior, rushing for over 2,000 yards and 27 touchdowns. Ran track as a sophomore, posting a personal best of 11.20 seconds in the 100 meters. Has some tightness in his lower body that can shorten his stride in the open field, affecting his top gear and long speed. Improvement on that front would improve his ability to pull away at the college level. Has a high floor as an every down back given his well-rounded skill set and looks to be one of the top runners in the 2025 cycle.”

Auburn signee Alvin Henderson finishes as their 35th ranked RB and Anthony Rogers finishes as their 20th ranked RB.

Rough year in-state I guess.

Top 10 interior offensive linemen in the final 2025 On300 rankings

quote:

1. Michael Carroll — Alabama
School: Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy
On300 Ranking: No. 11 NATL.

Scouting Summary: “Large-framed offensive line prospect with dynamic run blocking ability and a physical edge to his game. Measured in at 6-foot-6, 315 pounds with 33-inch arms and massive 11-inch hands prior to his senior season. Emerged as the top interior offensive line prospect in the cycle as a junior and cemented that status as a senior. Has added good size and has a well-proportioned build. Lines up as an offensive guard and defensive lineman for his original high school, prior to transferring to IMG Academy as a senior. A high level functional mover. Highly dangerous as a puller when working to the second level. Blows up linebackers on contact. Uses his large hands and grip strength to manipulate defenders at the point of attack. Plays with a level of nastiness and seeks out contact. Works to finish blocks.

…Has a strong base, allowing for the ability to anchor in pass pro. Flashes his athleticism and plays with a high effort level on defense, tracking plays down from the back side. Shows his competitive nature in the camp setting and does not back down from matchups with top prospects. Plays in a run heavy offense and will need to continue developing as a pass blocker, but has the traits to improve there with more work. Has athletic pedigree with both parents – father played football at Penn State and mother played basketball at Michigan State – being former Division 1 athletes. Likely projects along the interior long-term but has the potential to feasibly line up at multiple spots on the college level. Size, athleticism, and competitiveness point to a high ceiling at the position.”

Lolz, I absolutely had no idea. I can't remember the last time I did not know when NSD was, even after ESP made it almost irrevelant.

That list proves that recruiting/evaluating isn’t an exact science, even with the GOAT.
