The first year I was old enough to care about recruiting was the 05-06 year with Shula... I remember checking rivals every week on our dial up internet in the middle of nowhere florida and occasionally catching some SEC news in the newspaper in the runup to signing day. Much simpler times. I was convinced Robert Marve was going to be the next great Alabama QB.

Its interesting to see how recruits react to someone they like over something that is good for them. I mean Locks has showed me nothing that would make me say my son can go play for him lol.

Yep. Loved reading the bios on each recruit . If coaches were leaving you really didn’t know til it happened , now hell everybody knows something . Too much to worry/keep up with.

Wonder if they going to use Robinson’s spot on another RB or somewhere else? If we get Sanders we should have plenty anyway unless Jacobs leaves or someone transfers

It makes sense, people make irrational choices based upon relationships all of the time. I've seen coworkers leave to follow a boss they liked for a job with less pay and conversely stay in a job they hated because they liked their boss/coworkers so much. Makes sense that 18/19 year olds would fall into the same patterns.

Locks got his work cut out for him for sure . Wish him luck and know he has confidence in himself and his abilities but the Big Ten East is about like the SEC West...some heavyweights in there

I was a Bama fan prodigy. Lol. Grew up with a dad that was a teacher/football coach. I was intensely into the games by the time I was 5 or 6. Followed recruiting avidly and bought the magazines by the time I was 12. So I've been at this for quite a long time (age 39 now).

I had no real interest until I was 10 or 11 just watched games with my dad, and didn't follow recruiting in depth until probably 2008-2009 class and that was just Rivals and googling for free info which was a step up from newspapers and rivals team page and I was 14 then.

Likewise. The 2008 class was the first one that I followed and I'm pretty sure it was because RBR did some recruiting articles leading up to NSD. Remember being in awe watching Julio Jones and Mark Ingram high school highlights.

Tualia got injured in the game tonight. Apparently it's a throwing hand issue.

I was just trying to remember how I started following it and I can't remember. I think I started on bamamag and then bama online

Blue Chips magazine out of Oklahoma,I think, was the best for me at that time. Then Max Emfinger was great too. Recruiting info was sparse.
