Sabans first few years when Kirby was DC. Last 5 or 6 been rough. Guess it’s good that others want your coaches though

I'd agree. KS was an exception, but for the most part we had multiple coach changes every offseason since 2009. The biggest difference is before we'd lose Mcelwain to Colorado St. not a Tennessee or a Georgia, huge brand name schools that can actually compete with bama for the recruits.

There are always twists and turns, rumors, etc. as signing day approaches. Try to overreact to them. We probably won't get everybody we want but we'll finish with a great class, probably #1.

There are heavy rumors Maryland will hire Hellams's head coach, Elijah Brooks, to be their RB coach. I'm not sure how that would impact Hellams.

I thought the new rules in place to prevent him from getting hired for like 2 years if a player from his HS went to a college offering him a job.

That rule only applies to off-field staff, not the ten on-field assistant coaching positions.

Been following this crap since Forrest Davis recruiting magazine and Rodney Orr’s recruiting “pamphlet “ were my sources of info. Getting old but this commit, de commit, might recommit, crap is crazy. Not good to get worked up over this. Too much coverage for these kids today

The thing is this stuff happened back then too, but because we didn't have websites and social media it just didn't get reported.

Usually don’t see it in basketball much either. Hell they commit and sign . Much simpler. Well....taking out the shoe companies

They also tend to wait on commitments until towards the end of the cycle. My theory is that CFB recruiting is such a huge industry that players are being told from the time they are 13/14 that they need to pick a school not a coach, but that ends up translating to a 17/18 year old two visits in loving a program and saying he wants to go before he possibly could know if he really wants to be there.

Saw it multiple times with teammates in high school, saw one 4 star change his mind 3 weekends in a row, come in each week raving about his unnoficial visit like it was the only school he'd even consider.

It’s a big decision and a lot of pressure put on them by coaches and others . I can see how some might not be mature or come from small , rural, prolly poverty level and fall in love with every shiner wrapper put in front of them .

Well at least we have the early signing period so we can try to fill spots in case someone flips.

One of the top BOL insiders said K Robinson wasn't likely to end up at Bama even if Locks didn't go to Maryland. He also said he hasn't heard any concerns that Hellams might flip.

I read these every year and then would get the Birmingham news or Post herald the day after signing day to see who we got. It was much easier then
