Kind of up in the air right now. We are working a lot of DBs, some that aren't really being mentioned.

5-star Alabama commit Pierce Quick still working on 5-star Clay Webb

quote:

Alabama 5-star offensive lineman commit and Hewitt-Trussville senior Pierce Quick has been loud and proud about his role as a vocal recruiter for the Crimson Tide’s Class of 2019.

The class currently features 21 committed players, with Quick being the lone 5-star.

In a video series from Hewitt-Trussville posted on Twitter on Thursday, Quick was asked which player he'd most like to join him at Alabama. He didn't hesitate.

“For sure, Clay Webb,” Quick said.

Watch the video:

Webb, a 5-star lineman from Oxford, is the state's No. 1-rated prospect and the only member of AL.com's A-List who has not made a public commitment. Webb told AL.com recently that he's still considering Alabama, Georgia, Auburn and Clemson

Most recruiting observers think it's Alabama vs. Georgia, pitting Nick Saban's recruiting prowess against protégé Kirby Smart.

Quick and Webb have played tackle for most of their high school careers, but both project as inside linemen -- either center or guard -- in college.

“I just need to find a team that I feel like suits me,” Webb told AL.com last month. “I want to be surrounded by guys that I know I’ll enjoy playing around. Probably the most important thing is what the team and what the players are like.”

Webb clearly has a fan in Quick.

Alabama’s 2019 class is currently ranked No. 1 nationally, and the Crimson Tide could still land a number of 5-star prospects, including IMG Academy (Fla.) running back Trey Sanders and Oaks Christian (Calif.) defensive end Kayvon Thibideaux, the nation’s No. 1 recruit.

It seems pretty clear he's not terribly interested in being here.

BOL poster on Oct 4th:
quote:

I talked with a teacher today who's husband is an assistant coach at Horn Lake. She said Dean is an exceptional student and is really focused on academics. She said he really wants to prepare himself for life after football. Great kid by all accounts. She said he has already made up his mind about where he wants to go to college but has told no one. Not even his mother. He’s keeping this decision to himself.

One of the top BOL insiders:
quote:

Dean made his mind up in the spring. UGA gave him pause due to his mother but her constant falling in love with nearly every school, in particular UGA and FSU, actually helped Dean focus back that it's truly about what he wants. Mom gave her blessing for Bama this summer. Not saying it can't happen that he will change up, but of all the 5-stars, I'm most confident in Dean and Sanders.

If Dean indeed already feels pretty certain about his decision, then it seems reasonable that he could feel like there's no pressing need to visit the programs recruiting him.

Commitment watch [ON] for:

4-star OT Paul Tchio 6-5/325 GA hudl
quote:

Tchio named Alabama his leader in the spring and...the plan now is to visit Alabama this weekend and then make a commitment at some point next week. The Tide's toughest competition is Clemson for the Peach State tackle. Alabama looks like it's in good shape here... It wouldn't be a shock to see him pull the trigger early.

Someone on one of my recruiting podcast this past week said Tchio would be the next player to commit to Bama.

Sometimes the kids in LA who want to come to Bama won't publicly commit ahead of signing day just to avoid being harrassed by the crazy segment of LSU fans who label them traitors. Those same people have no issues with kids from other states who come to LSU tho. Smh.

ETA: From the LSUrb:
quote:

Just blows my mind how Louisiana kids would want to damage the flagship University of his home state, by playing Saban's games. Kinda like putting a knife in the back of your own family? That's what Robinson, Moses, Jones, Allen, Mathis, D Smith etc. have done.

Yea i was about to say i doubt he commits. Like a LSU poster said in their board. Why would you go to LSU when you dont know who your coach is going to be in a few years.
