UGA mod Rusty Mansell CBd Clay Webb to UGA. He also very recently said Jadon Hazlewood was solid in his commitment to UGA -- whiff. Maybe he's trying to win back points with UGA fans.

ETA: Webb hasn't been telling anyone anything about whether he's leaning anywhere. I doubt Rusty, Wiltfong, etc. have any real intel. Reliable BOL insider: "Our fans will continue to panic but I think the home team wins out in the end."

247 has already updated DB recruit rankings. They're working on LBs and DLs next and then offensive positions.

Don't think they're much of a threat anyway.

Think it will ultimately be Bama or USC. I like our chances with Tosh being all over him.

LINK ]Tide commits make Mississippi All-Star roster (BamaOnLine)

quote:

On Monday we saw six Crimson Tide commitments for this year's Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game. Today, the Mississippi roster was announced. Both UA commits Brandon Turnage and Byron Young made the list.

Turnage is having a big senior season after returning from a foot injury that held him out the entirety of his junior season campaign. The 4-star athlete from Oxford (Miss.) Lafayette has 39 tackles, including two tackles for a loss and four interceptions, one of which was a pick six. He also has 158 yards receiving and a score. Turnage is one of Alabama's longest-standing pledges after joining the class last December.

Young committed to the Tide back in July and has followed up with a strong start to his senior season as well at Laurel (Miss.) West Jones. The 4-star defensive lineman has 42 tackles including 14.5 tackles for a loss and 8.5 sacks.

Joining the two Alabama commits will be several top Tide targets including:

Nakobe Dean, 5-star ILB, Horn Lake (Miss.) -- Dean, the No. 1 inside linebacker in the country, is a top Alabama priority in the 2019 class. He will be making his decision known two days after the game on Dec. 19. Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M are all hoping to add him to their class.

Nathan Pickering, 4-star SDE, Seminary (Miss.) -- Mississippi State commit -- Pickering, despite his pledge to the Bulldogs, is still considering others, namely Alabama, which he says is his No. 2 school. He will return for an official visit down the line.

Jaren Handy, 4-star SDE, Hattiesburg (Miss.) -- Auburn commit -- Handy, too, is still looking at all of his options despite his commitment to the Tigers. The Tide was at one point his No. 2 school before he pledged to Auburn in the summer. He recently told BamaOnLine that he is in contact with the Tide staff every day and is in the process of setting up an official visit back to Alabama.

Jarrian Jones, 4-star S, Flowood (Miss.) Northwest Rankin -- Mississippi State commit -- Another already committed prospect, Jones returned to Tuscaloosa last month for the Texas A&M game and told BamaOnLine that the Tide is the only school that has a chance to change his mind on the Bulldogs, in large part due to his relationship with the aforementioned Turnage.

The Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game will be played on Dec. 17 in Montgomery, Ala. at the Cramton Bowl. The game will take place just two days away from the start of the Early Signing Period. And, with several recruiting battles that will likely come down to the wire with players involved in the game (ex. Clay Webb, Nakobe Dean), it's definitely worth keeping tabs on as a Crimson Tide fan this year. To see the rest of the Mississippi All-Star roster, click here.

Watts: "The thing is a kid like Clay could already have his decision and not have said anything for all we know. I do know his wish was just to show up at a school with no fuss. I don't think he likes the tug of war so nobody pressures him. He just quietly does his own thing."

Clay Webb is going to take some more visits for games this fall, probably to UA, UGA, CU and AU. He's probably going to remain extremely tight lipped, tell the coaches his decision right before early signing day and then fax in his signed NLI. Fretting over each visit he takes to other schools and every non-UA CB forecast that happens is silly, imo.

Something interesting that could be nothing, but I did notice today during the Bone interview -

Last week Bone said Bama was in good shape to land two out of the three of Webb, Neal, Wright.

This week he made it a point of emphasis to say that Bama was in very good shape with both Neal and Wright, and he didn't mention Webb till he was asked about him by GH.

Neal has the highest ceiling of all three, and could be a future top ten pick with the measureables.

Wright has a good head on his shoulders. He bends and moves well for a guy his size, and frankly he is much more versatile than Webb. Wright at 6'6 320, could play any position along the OL. Webb with his size should play center, but he's refusing to play center, and wants to play guard.

Honestly I'd be stoked if Bama landed Neal and Wright. I think they are better prospects.

Then again we could sign all three, and everybody is happy.

Mansell gets his orders straight from Kirby these days. This is damage control from Hazelwood and Stevenson (trending to Miami). They could end up getting Webb (Though I doubt it), but this CB almost surely wasn't from any new info. It's PR/damage control for UGag recruiting.

Today's CBs for Lewis Cine to UGA might be too. However, he's been trending to UGA for a while and just OVd there.
