He says Hellam, Williams, and Turnage are all considered safeties, and unless Hill changes his mind they are done at safety.
Staff wants one more corner.
Williams and Turnage can play CB or safety. They're listed as CBs on the 247 composite.

To be honest in the end I do not think it has anything to do with academics, location, or whatever in the majority of these kids being recruited who end up elsewhere. For UA I think it has to do with are you willing to put the time, effort, and commitment required to succeed at UA. These recruits are told this upfront and I have yet to hear a recruit say anything was ever sugar coated regarding our program.
I think some just want an easier path to see the field and maybe get to the NFL. Most are treated as royalty in HS and want that as well in college. They do want to have to put the work in but that is why at UA guys like a J Carpenter and others get drafted not just the top players.

Has Q Crouch ever visited UA or at least in a while? I swear S Wiltfong over on the UT sites gets them excited by saying it is either UT or UA for Crouch with them leading only to get them excited about beating us for a 5 star recruit. I have seen very little from him regarding UA. So was just curious.
I don't think Crouch has returned to Bama since last summer. He recently said he'll OV though. Wiltfong makes a lot of premature predictions, including CB picks. If the situation changes, he just changes his CB pick. I get the impression that Wiltfong does and says some things for the sake of generating buzz, suspense, clicks, etc.

I'm told that Newport Beach (Calif.) Corona del Mar class of 2020 teammates Mark Redman and Ethan Garbers are set to visit Alabama this weekend for the TAMU game.
Redman is a big tight end that currently holds four Pac-12 offers as well as Michigan. Garbers is gaining a lot of recruiting traction with a strong start to his junior year. His brother, Chase, is a former Elite 11 QB now playing at Cal.

Recruiting battle for 4-star RB Roydell Williams now more than Alabama vs. Auburn
quote:
Hueytown running back Roydell Williams now has to charge his cell phone during the day to make sure it doesn't run out of juice.
"It's charging right now," Williams said in phone interview this week.
Such is the life of a 4-star recruit, especially one who set a school single-season rushing record last season and has run for 674 yards in three games this season.
Williams grabbed offers from Auburn, Ole Miss and others last year, followed by an Alabama offer last spring.
But once Sept. 1 arrived -- the date at which NCAA rules allow college coaches to begin contacting high school juniors via phone and social media -- things really intensified for Williams.
Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU, Nebraska and Mississippi State are among the schools that have shown intense interest in Williams since Sept. 1.
"A lot of schools hit me up on Twitter," he said. "It's been a little different with a lot of notifications popping up (on my phone). I'm still trying to go through the process of getting used to it."
Williams has run 74 times for 674 yards, an average of 9.1 yards per carry, and six touchdowns this season for the Golden Gophers (2-1) while sharing time with fellow junior Antonio Mason, who holds offers from UAB, Troy, Southern Miss and other mid-major programs.
Williams has also become a bigger part of the passing game for Hueytown, catching 12 passes for 162 yards and another two touchdowns. He's also completed his only pass and scored on a 2-point conversion.
That's 86 touches for 836 yards, averaging nearly a first down every time the 5-foot-9, 200-pounder touches the ball entering Friday's game against Brookwood.
"He's put 10 pounds of muscle, and he's actually gotten faster," Hueytown coach Scott Mansell said. "He's got that top-end gear where when the breaks out in the open, nobody is catching him."
The obvious question for Williams: Does he have a leader?
"No," he said matter-of-factly.
Williams visited Auburn for last week's game SEC West showdown against LSU and plans to be at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday when No. 1-ranked Alabama plays Texas A&M.
Williams, however, said he's much more focused on school and Hueytown's season than recruiting.
"So far, the season has been going good," he said. "I'm looking forward to working hard every day and doing what we have to do to get wins on Friday nights."

It's a good thing. You think anyone is wasting time going to these guys' boards to downvote them?

Ashford is ours if we offer him, and I think Roydell ends up rolling with the Tide.

Take Two: Can Georgia beat out Alabama for five-star Clay Webb?

Take Two returns with a daily offering tackling a handful of issues in the college football landscape. Rivals.com National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney lays out the situation and then receives takes from Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell and a local expert from the Rivals.com network of team sites.

THE STORYLINE
Alabama and Auburn have largely dominated landing the top two in-state players in the Rivals.com era dating back to 2002 and Georgia has never landed Nos. 1 or 2 in that state.
The Crimson Tide and the Tigers to a large extent have locked down their home state with Clemson jumping in last recruiting cycle and getting five-star receiver Justyn Ross, Florida State coming in to get five-star quarterback Jameis Winston and then LSU, Florida and Tennessee have dipped in for a player here and there over the years.
One school that has never landed one of the top two prospects from that state is Georgia but that could change this recruiting cycle when it comes to five-star center Clay Webb.
The Oxford, Ala., prospect was considered a strong Alabama lean early in his recruitment but that seems to have changed at least a little bit in recent months. Webb was at Auburn this past weekend for the LSU game. He’s been to Georgia previously and could be back in Athens later this month for the Tennessee game. Clemson cannot be counted out.
Alabama has had tremendous success landing the state’s top players and is still a clear frontrunner for Webb’s services. Auburn has been respectable as well.
But does Georgia, which has gone everywhere for top prospects and has beaten the Crimson Tide a few times recently for elite talent, have the recruiting prowess to go into the state and get a prospect who was once considered a near lock for ‘Bama?

FIRST TAKE: CHAD SIMMONS, SOUTHEAST RECRUITING ANALYST
“Alabama is always tough to beat, especially for top in-state prospects, but Webb is different. He is not caught up in the hype around Alabama, or any other school for that matter. It is going to come down to where he feels he fits in the best. Auburn is up there too, but based on what I have been hearing the last six weeks or so, Georgia has put itself in good position. Webb was in Athens late in July and he is likely to be there again for the Tennessee game late this month. He could still end up at Alabama, Auburn, Clemson or Georgia, but for now, although it still seems to be very tight, Georgia has to be considered one of the front-runners, if not the front-runner at this time.”

SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, NATIONAL RECRUITING DIRECTOR
“Georgia has beaten Alabama straight-up for top recruits before, Jake Fromm and some others. Georgia cannot be counted out of any recruiting battle where it's a finalist but I still find it hard to believe Alabama, after all this time and having such a lead for the kid, would lose out on him. That would be a big recruiting upset to me. Maybe other people think he will end up at Georgia but to me I still think Alabama. Until he chooses Georgia over Alabama I’m not going to believe a lot of the rumors about Georgia being the leader.”
